I have nothing more than a regular cell phone, but I'm pretty sure there are other options out there besides the mainstream. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't say tracking movements as sell location and wifi data isn't exactly accurate. I am surprised that all this talk about the issue and not much talk about the app itself. It can be downloaded. It is called iPhoneTracker and it is for Mac only: http://petewarden.github.com/iPhoneTracker/ there are a few windows versions floating around but I am not sure if they are safe to use.
I created a few tutorials for those wanting to check it out:
For those who want to use the iphone tracker app or use alternatives check here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bu80fkm9TM For those who are on windows or can't get the app to work on a PC check here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFkuo6sk6zM

According to the End User Licence Agreement the buyer of an iPhone doesn't become its owner. The phone continues to be a property of Apple. So, quite naturally, they have the right to know the location of theit property in any time.

a friend of mine has the iphone 4 and showed me a couple a days ago a 'cool thing' (he said) about iphone 4...that you can pin-point your friends location in detail...i was sceptic at first, but when i saw it i couldn't believe it...with a simple sync with the friends he had on facebook and the hel of that aplication...i could see were some guy is at that time(ex: a bar...and the exact location of the bar) or when he was at that bar(ex: mike was at bar on street 2 mins ago) ... so even if it looks supercool at first...if you think a min about it,it's a scary stuff...your privacy is dead!i really don't like this, people care about their privacy...i really don't think it's such a good ideea

The fact that this data is not secured but accessible to anyone is frightening. Apple has programmed this little tool with no consent for the privacy of its customers.
This results in a situation where you are unprotected from *anyone* accessing this data and knowing your whereabouts. Including people outside Apple, outside governments - anyone.
Another painful fact that shows Apple does not care for its customers in any way, shape or form.

y is every1 so worried about it all
we are monitored at all times anyway. via cameras, satalites, mobile phones (all of them) and our identities are online.
are they really doing anything that will harm us?
i would be more worries about the fact that the networks can track you as the do it all remotely. this prog stores it within the device therefore apple arent using it against you
DONT BE SO PARANOID lol

Iphone has a tracking system, which allows you to see where your phone is if you have lost it, so by this tracking system being inside, yes they can track you and find out whereever you are....But here come the logical part, why are you so worried about this that it hit the news, do you really think that the owners of apply really care about where you are that they will look where you go.. people, if your worried about this, you shouldnt, your not that important for people to track you, unless your govenment is looking for you because you do alot of fruad, then... just dont by a phone.
