Essential phone to be carrier exclusive with Sprint in US

Pretty sure this is a Store exclusivity. I would think unlocked versions will be sold as well. However Carrier store exclusives usually have "perks" or discounts, that you wont get when buying the phone unlocked or elsewhere.
Sprint isn't the best choice for a new line of devices, kinda middle ground. I don't know the dealings so, maybe it was the best option to get into the market with a carrier?
If it is complete carrier exclusivity, well Essential just...essentially buried their phone in the US

Why though. Exclusives suck and also sprint has horrible service. They won't sell as well if it's not available to everyone.

I think this phone is the latter. We will have to wait and see if it will do T-Mobile VoLTE.
