LG V30 to sport OLED panel, no secondary screen

I don't mind loosing the second screen if I have 18:9 aspect ratio and OLED. All the same functionality can be delivered. An OLED screen can be always on. An 18:9 screen can have a row of icons (or whatever) and still have room for 16:9 content.
I do, however, mind if LG is going to take my removable battery away. This is one of the defining features of the V series. Take away all the defining feature of the V series and you end up with a copy of the Galaxy S series. And copying Samsung is NOT going to lead to increased sales.

Ellis, 30 Jun 2017Everybody hated the g5 because of it's modularity being hal... moreI don't think it was the so much the mods being half baked , i think it was a whole combination of things ,
The G5 had a small battery , the ips screen quality was a tad lack lustre in a couple of areas, viewing angles , brightness ,
Also the case design and finish was fairly average .
By the same token if you could look past it's flaws it was actually a very good daily that was fast and had a good camera .

Finally, OLED screen on a true LG flagship. Besides with OLED, they don't need a secondary LCD display like the previous V-series.

Well, definitely there is so much more to say regarding this. But in a sort of a nutshell, I think that yes it is better for LG to adopt this kind of strategy. The second display yes was a sort of a signature for the V line, and although even HTC "borrow it" for their U Ultra, etc. And now after that the G6 is an unibody glass and water-resistant like the S8 (duo), etc. Probably this will be the next best strategy for LG. It will be better and even finally for LG to include an OLED Display for their flagships, considering even although slightly different, that LG is the world's leader in OLED TVs displays, etc. What's more is, that if so the V30 will be a sort of a + (bigger) and upgraded G6, we can't forget that in a way, the Note is almost an S but slightly bigger, upgraded and with an S Pen (stylus), and even the other brands two flagships lines, are ALMOST the same. The main thing that I hope is, that at least the V30 won't be just a slightly bigger and " " upgraded over the G6, but that it will be really upgraded, I mean 64GB internal, hopefully 6GB RAM (if not including the 8GB optional of the OP5, Nubia Z17, Zenfone AR, etc) as standard, and all the other best and latest specs of 2017. In other words, let's hope that it will be a much more honourable competitor for the Note 8, than the G6 was for the S8 duo, etc.

and I don't care much for a camera bump. I would rather have a great camera. People are just haters. They hated on the LG G5 coz of the camera bump but were cool with it when the iphone had a camera bump. the bump is gonna be covered up anyways coz most will wanna put their phone in a phone case anyways.

Ok,and who is meant to be supplying LG with several million displays then ?
Apple are supposedly having problems sourcing them, oleds etc still have a much higher production fail rate than LCD.
Me,I always thought the V line was for LG to show off THEIR OWN ideas,so why just copy a Samsung design, complete with features that many don't like much, like glass backs..
Me,I'll wait to see what LG actually release..

AnonD-526821, 30 Jun 2017Lg plz change the camera sensor this time. THIS! And change for the better, not the worse.
Enough 1/3" sensor, get at least 1/2.3" one, but don't pump ridiculous amounts of megapixels into it. 12 to 16 MP should suffice.
Just my opinion...

aceofgenerations, 30 Jun 2017Why not use some of the 18:9 real estate for that second sc... moreI was thinking along the same lines too.... If it uses OLED, then the top portion of the now taller display (2880x1440) can be configured (depending on the user's choice) as
1. practically a secondary display of resolution 320x1440 and the rest 2560x1440 as main display.
2. part of the entire 2880x1440 as main display.
3. Something in between.

aceofgenerations, 30 Jun 2017Why not use some of the 18:9 real estate for that second sc... moreAgreed please LG innovate don't imitate..use the extra real estate foe your niche product or try something else..just use an update chipset and use 6gbs of ram..and for Pete sakes please no boot loop errors

Why not use some of the 18:9 real estate for that second screen instead? Let users disable it if they don't want it (IF this was implemented).
