Weekly poll results: OnePlus should have done more with the 5

The new flagship doesn't seem to live up to the "Never Settle" promise.

.alpha, 03 Jul 2017This is OnePlus, any sales record number comes out from the... moreExactly, this is the company that was caught cheating on benchmarks with the OnePlus 3T and then they did it again on reviewer units with the OnePlus 5 (I guess that wanted to get in on VW's cheating action). Then they were only days later caught lying about the telephoto lens on the phone (it only gets to 2x, but partially using digital zooming--with all the problems that brings).

Why should we believe anything from them? What will come out next? Can we really trust that the phone is made the way they say it's made?

That aside, OnePlus has always failed to live up to their "Never Settle" propoganda. At the price point they aim for, of course they are going to have to make compromises (screen resolution being an obvious point). That's fine. But instead of the hype that's easy to see through they should just be honest that they targe a point between flagship phones and mid-tier phones. You get most of the features you want, without the flagship price (though certainly much more than most mid-tier phones). Really "Good Enough" should be their moto.

This is OnePlus, any sales record number comes out from the marketing team and not sales team. I wouldn't trust a word they said. Didn't the CEO said 5 will be smaller than 3T? It is actually 2mm taller.

I had been waiting to replace my 1+1 for the last four months, but to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I am considering 1+3T instead, or LG G6. With every iteration, they increase the price by at least $50. They do not provide a flagship killer any more and value for money is gone. They are now spending huge amount in advertisements and publicity, which original 1+ fans never wanted/appreciated. Had they spend half of the money designing a good device, they would have sold millions. In this age, nobody is ignorant enough to buy a cell phone just by looking at the advertisements. They signed up Amitabh Bachchan in India, spending millions of dollars. I would have liked them to spend some on an original design, better battery and better screen instead. I do not want to pay substantial amount for them to spend on damn publicity. They managed to sell more initially but their sale is bound to decline soon, as the original fans may not like what they are getting for their hard-earned money. If I have to spend so much for a device just for dual camera(No OIS, seriously?) and SD835(provides marginal upgrade to 821), I would rathar spend some more and get a device with better overall package. Gooodbye 1+, I am sad to let you go as now you are no different than other mainstream companies.

Basically, the 1+5 is a good phone. But not for the Oneplus Brand.

OP 3T is their best phone till today. Performance and design are both awesome. They shouldn't have copied design anyway.

"FOCUS ON WHAT IT MATTERS"looks really matters in that point of view it really sucks to see you made a copy...of 7+...so what's the difference between Micromax and 1+... performance is really good but design didn't settle our eager ...1+1+1+1+ we waited a while to see your flagship but finally it was not upto our imagination...

quite dissapointed with op5, was impressed with 3t and planned on replacing my old honor 7 but the value is not that high, considering my phone runs app quite smoothly

Such a shame to see Oneplus take the route of many Chinese knock offs. I have had the 1, the X and now running the 3T. All were great value and very good unique designs. The 5 won't be replacing the 3T for me. Expensive now, and me too design.

They really should not copied that design from iP 7+. A decent design is better than copycat another product. Take a shot from Mi 6, the design is not that good, yet their fans really appreciated the company for having their own design identity.

1.they should hv stick to their design
2.battery needed to be more (3500+), though it may add some extra bulk but its worth it(anything below 8.5mm below acceptable).
                                      3.lack of OIS(strongly needeed)
4.QHD display (mostly for VR though) but it was required at this price point. otherwise they seriously need to consider more pocket friendly device(480$ below)
