I will never buy a phone with dual cameras. Its not a whim, it's a cause. We went so far with sensor sizes and quality and the older Nokias prove there is a lot of space for improvement and beautiful things to come in smartphone photography. Dual cameras but that on hold for a gimmick.

Dual lenses is ugly, it is a transition just like 3D photography because not everyone one need the features for extra lenses. A smartphone is easy carry and point to shoot, that why shooting and capture the fastest moments is the primary target, so the Predictive Capture and 960fps super slow motion is very useful. Other than this have to refer to personal preferences,
-wider lens is great to capture more contains but the near frame.
distortion is more.
-Tele lens is great to capture far objects but the how many times you will use it to capture far objects for peeping? Moreover the length is not enough to zoom while the objects far away from the user.
- monochrome+RGB chromatic issues in day light, although take better shot in night, depends on user mostly use phone for day or night.
Nothing is perfectly done by all brands including the Apple…perhaps only the marketing strategy are perfectly brain wash people.

Why isn't there a option for NONE.
This year there is no real camera innovation except Sony 960 fps video but still it has a lot of shortcomings.Htc by adding dual pixel and Samsung by image stacking made very minor improvements.As for LG they seem to have taken a downgrade.
Last year Samsung did great by adding dual pixel and the biggest leap was Nokia pureview.I hope some company takes a leap in the camera department like Nokia did.

Look at the LG G6, great set up but they actually made the sensor of the main camera smaller than the LG G5!! They brought it from 1/2.6 to 1/3. Pathetic move!
Look at Apple, they're still using a tiny 1/3 in, really sad.
Android is still stuck with 1/2.3 in. sensors. No idea why they won't do what Nokia did with the 808 and 1020. Only Panasonic (for Android) went for a 1 inch sensor at one point, and made the phone too expensive at $1000, then failed.
We need bigger sensors mixed with 1.4 aperture.

Are you serious about the K Zoom comment? it's only 16.6mm thick. My Sony RX100 is about 36mm thick and it still fits in my pocket.
I travel to some dangerous countries sometimes and cannot have a DSLR with me. I sold them all and only carry a Sony RX100 now.
I do love the quality out of DSLRs and yes I do miss them. However, my RX100 with its multi frame noise reduction reaches that APS-C quality sometimes (not bokeh) and I can fit it in my pocket. I miss Nikon the most though.

Apart from my single lens preference , For Dual Camera , i prefer Wide One & Normal lens with good wide aperture & at least 1/2.8" Sensor like Oneplus 5 ( As per what mobile manufacturers can fit right now ), but i don't like the telephoto arrangement , a wide angle lens will produce beautiful , wonderful wide photos like GoPro action cameras & a normal lens for normal output , one way it would be similar to 2x zoom , if you are zooming in from wide angle photo so kind of 2 thing in one setup ( Of Course traditional telephoto lens will mean more detail on zoom but will loose out wide angle shots )
That way LG G6 is a good implementation , have look at LG G6 shots for an idea.

It's all about your idea about taking photos.
I prefer B/W and less noise.
Maybe other one like tele.

Simon , right on money , but unfortunately no one is listening , i would anyday prefer a 1/2.3" or 1/2.4" single sensor over 1/2.8" 2 Sensors @ Oneplus 5 or 1/3.06" 2 Sensors LG G6 , with that much size you could fit a 1/2.3" Sensor or better still a 1/2" Image Sensor with RAW support & all exmor RS facility etc. it will have excellent image quality & more data than 2x Zoom of oneplus 5 , but you know the 1/3.06" or 1/2.8" sensors are cheap even if 2 are purchased after all 1/2.3 or 1/2" are reserved for digital camera , mirrorless cameras , one reason Sony has avoided dual setup & even samsung ( Which i hear is going more over single powerful sensor , than dual setup ) even if they go dual they will have small sensors than present 1/2.55" unless they fit a much small sensor as 2nd one i.e. 1/3.06" etc. to give primary 1/2.55" sensor instead of single 1/2.3" or 1/2" on there Note 8.

Why on earth is there no option of no dual cameras? I really, really hope they go away as fast as the 3D screens did and assuming they're here to stay is not only far fetched, but suggesting that they're wanted is offensive to some of your readers.
They mean no progress in camera quality, they allow manufacturers to get lazy and give an excuse to stop improving on sensor quality and size, as it is even more difficult to place two large sensors, like it wasn't challenging enough to fit one. Why does anyone think good cameras have one, single sensor? Because if you want good camera quality, you are trying to squeeze in the biggest sensor you can in the case you are working with. Smartphones already have limited real estate. Squashing in two small sensors where there could be a single larger one isn't serving anyone but manufacturers.
The first company that does a single large sensor camera on the phone will get my money.

The Huawei one is a bit silly when they mention the low light thing. You don't need Huawei's solution for good low light photography. It gives good effects and what not but it doesn't do any better than some phones with one lense only.
