The width of s8 is 68.1mm, that is already skinny though the screen has more height, if the it will be 5,3" with 18:9 ratio, won't it be too skinny even for compact?

that would be great news... I was for a longtime on a fence to upgrade to S8, but felt my current S6edge was already on the upper end of size for me and, didn't want do go for any bigger phone. The only problem with S8 mini is that when it launch it will cost same as full size S8 with more premium features, which will bring extra headache to decide between 2.

Agree on SD 6 series, but 5,3'' is still overkill. This would place screen's top edge at around 125-126 mm, like SGS 6. It's unusable for a one hand. For one-hand usage top edge of the screen should go beyond 115 from bottom edge. So 4,9-5,0'', considering little bezel at top and bottom. With 5,3'' it's a dead project. Still oriented at those who doesn't need huge shovel. It is still shovel.

Indeed it won't be as good as the XZ1 Compact, 'cause that phone will likely feature the newest 18:9 rumored display which was announced by JDI.
Apple and Sony are the kings of compact devices, and they're actually working together to get themselves first on Sony's pioneered display technology called CLEDIS, a display that offers the accuracy of IPS with infinite contrast ratio of OLED minus their major drawbacks.

Still looks ginormous almost the same size as other 2 so whats the point. If its not easy to use with one hand I have no use for it.
