TechLover1, 04 Jul 2017Well, it is clear, obvious and so understandable, that the ... moreI think it is because Samsung and Apple don't want to showcase a flawed product (prototype) as their reputations will unfortunately take a hit as people see it not working, and without reading the article or understanding that it is not a finished product, start slamming them. There has been talk for a few years now of them doing this tech as the s7 was a possibility for it but they said it wasn't ready or reliable enough for mainstream production, so I'm sure they have had their own prototypes for a while now.

    Same thinking here
What is the purpose of under the screen fingerprints reader if it is a must to turn the screen on and then open the device using the USFPR ???
the current technology it's more useful and convenient
    Sorry vivo

So you have to turn the display on to read your finger? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I much prefer a fast fingerprint scanner on the back.

          Well, that's actually amazing.
And is not really that slow either.
S6's fingerprint sensor is quite slow, but with a custom rom it becomes one of the fastest.
I think that with a bit of optimizations, Vivo's fingerprint sensor would become really fast.

I was hoping that with this new technology we can unlock our phone using FPS in any part of the screen but after watching the video i'm certain that only one specific part of the screen that can be use to unlock it...

at first it is slow bcoz initially you have to register your fingerprint on screen. after that it will be fast to lock or unlock the phone. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m3zu-ykbjf4

Apple is now going to ditch Touch ID fingerprint scanner and instead they gonna use 3D facial recognition to unlock iPhone 8 from any angle , fingerprint scanning technology is now old , on screen off screen in home button whatever it is it's now old technology ...

I can already see vivo's advertisements about this phone in the Philippines tho.
The video I saw was few minutes long. Not just seconds.
                    I believe it's a hands-on as well.
That's why I'm not surprised when I saw this on GSMA.

For the record, Vivo is only the first company to show the technology in lackluster format. They're not first with implementation by any stretch of the imagination.

Samsung has been working on prototypes long before Vivo's announcement last week, which is common sense being that the Galaxy S8 was scheduled to have it.

Even Apple, which is the least innovative of almost all companies, has been working with the technology.

It worked but it is slow. Thats why Apple and Samsung not rushing this yet. After working for many years with home button sensors thag works super fast, suddenly making a transition to this NEW high tech embedded fingerpeint sensor BUT super slow; i dont think so. No thank you. Nope. Not buying it.
