Don't see how people can complain, this is a tech demo not a product out to market.

abigfanoftechs, 04 Jul 2017Because they're the only one showing it. Plus, they said it... moreIt is called ignorance my friend. If Apple was the one to announce the exact same scanner opinions will be too different. It is a double standard to judge things. This is the reality of people.

Well, it is clear, obvious and so understandable, that the technology is still in its very early stages. It needs "more" finalization, polishing, etc., To be faster, more stable, reliable, etc. But the positive news is that finally it is here/usable, and so now they can start to gradually make it faster, more stable, reliable, etc. And it is funny (if we can call it like that?) that Vivo is the world's first to implement it, and not Samsung or Apple, etc. With that being said, really looking forward for this innovative tech. Although probably I won't see it and use it with the Note 8. But let's hope for a gradual positive things.

Has Apple or Samsung shown their prototype to the world yet?

This video shows why Apple or Samsung didn't do this earlier. It's just too unreliable and slow but they get the credit to first ever fingerprint embedded display. It was the same for Huawei, they used force touch in rush before iPhone gets released and take the credit. It was just horrible and unfinished. People even say things like "they did it first and Apple copied it". I won't give even a tiny bit of credit to them for implementing these unfinished technologies.

Xcode, 04 Jul 2017I don't know why this got so much attention when it's clear... moreBecause its working at least! Im sure its realy complicated to put that sensor under the screen and as you see all the big companies are struggling with that for years now. As far as we know samsung will use the same back-positioned fingerprint scanner in the new note like the s8 (so they have almost a year to finishing their on-screen scanner for the next flagship) and as i hear the roumors apple will use face recognizing insted of on-screen fingerprint scanning in the new iphone8 as well. I understand your point that phones should rather use a simple scanner than this "half done" on-screen version and wait for the working one - but they made it first and as a small company they deserve the attention. Good job vivo!

slowwww... nothing to be proud of... but i'm glad vivo is the first one to use this kind of technology, so Samsung can learn and improve the feature. i thought u can unlock it anywhere on the screen but unfortunately the position is fixed. its ok Samsung for not being the first one, remember this, "the second one is always better than the first"

                    2. iPhone 5, the remote control phone that adds a ENTIRE row of icons.
                    3. iPhone Plus.. the Note wannabe without stylus.
                    4. iPad Pro. the Samsung Galaxy View copy.. without the mouse.

Every time Apple finally gave in to pressure, its a joke of the history.

                      Good but it's very slow

Just like the first touch phone.
Just like the first App store.
                          Just like Atrix fingerprint scanner.

Just like Lumia 920 fast screen refresh rate.

No one will remember. Only Apple will remain in people's minds. But take little comfort you can always Wiki who's first, thanks to the internet.

its ok , just wait apple to copy and improve it ... then they can copy it back ... hey , at least vivo did it first , right ??

I'm really eager to see the biometrics on the new iPhone. It won't be this, this is too finnicky and not developed enough for a mass release like an iPhone. From the latest leaks there seems to be no fingerprint scanner anywhere (other than the power button, possibly). I hope there is some form of Touch ID because Iris/Facial is still a bit meh.
