ZenFone 3 Laser units in Canada not able to make 911 calls, Asus says working on a fix [Updated]

Asus has now revealed that the issue is due to an "an older version of OS (v7.0) still installed" on the device.

WHY What happen?

I have a Zenfone Max and build quality is this device's strong and weak point simultaneously.
I love how this phone feels solid built even with plastic materials. It's not the thinnest phone around, in fact actually can be the thickest of any smartphones, but its massive battery and massive thickness gives off a very strong body. And by means of strong body, I mean I couldn't even bend it nor apply any flex on the phone, while I can easily do that on my sister's LG G4.

It's also its weak point because somehow its volume up key needs a hard press to work, and sometimes even won't work at all.
It was just once that I dropped my phone on a concrete with a cracked screen, so I got it replaced from an authorized electrician here and not from Asus ('cause replacement of screen costs half as much, and I don't have any cash to spend with) and then I started to notice such issues.
Proximity sensor won't work. In Messenger, I can't end a call because my screen is turned off even when the sensor isn't covered by anything. I don't have any screen protector either, so I decided to remove it instead as I don't really need it at all, at least not that I find it a necessary piece of hardware from my device.

I guess this will be the last Asus phone that I will be getting as of now.
I'm thinking of getting it replaced already, but hey, I use whatever works, until I get enough cash to purchase a new one.

          Wow. This is very serious.

Well, it will be better for Asus to completely fix this issue sooner rather than later.

One guy was trapped in his apartment, and couldn't call for help. He was using his friends' Zenfone 3 Laser, and didn't know the password. He couldn't make a call for help.

I used Zenfone 2 laser, and it was first and the last phone I've used from Asus, it was OK at start but after 1 year everything broke! And by anything I mean anything - camera, microphone, speakers, display, CPU, GPU and everything else you name it I can continue the list till the night. I don't know how they do it, but it is a fact. So I am not shocked by the news.
