So...

I have a business. It is my right to charge as much as I want.
If you considerer my product expensive, just do not get it..
If you want it, you can pay for it.

Go to south america and see how much Apple charges...
3000,00 for an iPad , more than 6000,00 for computers.

Now, Qualcomm overcharges? LMAO...

So, when Apple, Foxconn and the others win will they lower the retail price of their devices or at least hold the prices at current levels?
    (ha ha!)

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2017For haters, everything Apple does is greedyOh you so read that wrong ( no hater here) Not by a long shot. I don't buy into that nonsense. Just stating facts like we do with other manufacturers.

haters gonna hate Apple, they are just doing what other countries are suing Qualcomm for, so it's not just Apple here, Samsung can do it as well but the hell would they care when they are the top of the chain

Qualcomm is too overhyped and mainstream that a lot of people believe it is the best chipmaker out there

Lol, 19 Jul 2017So let me get this right, Apple a greedy company that charg... moreLOL, how old are you? Do you even know what you are talking about? Did you even research this before posting? Or are you just posting your biased opinions because you know "it's Apple and I hate them." Those are FRAND patents, which means they are rules they have to follow (that's the condition when your patents are adopted by the industry and branded as FRAND). Which means the courts can decides on those things, and that the route Apple has taken.

FYI... Qualcomm is also an American company (do your homework). Besides Qualcomm have already been found guilty and fined by (3) other countries for doing exactly what Apple have accused them of here. They are also getting sued by the US government for doing exactly that (not a coincidence btw). If those were NON-FRAND patents, then Qualcomm could asked whatever they wanted, fortunately, that is not the case here, so Apple is asking the court to decides on is fair, that seems reasonable to me.

Here is a quote from both company ceo's: Tim Cook - "We feel Qualcomm is abusing their FRAND patents so we ask the court to decides on what is fair." Here is Qualcomm ceo: "There's not really anything new going on," Mollenkopf said speaking at the Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen. About the Apple dispute, he explained "those things tend to get to resolved out of court and there's no reason why I wouldn't expect that to be the case here." Those two quotes tells me everything I need to know about which company feels more confident about their court case.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2017As far as i see it. Qualcomm has a product Apple wants prod... moreWhy am I not surprised by your response, see past your biased. Those are FRAND patents, look that up. If Apple felt they were on the losing end of this argument, why would they let the court decide on this? They are doing exactly why you do when you have a FRAND patent dispute, let the court decides, they are following the rule of law. Something some of you here can't seem to accept, there is a reason those things are not decided by fanatics and their emotions.

Sony's next flagship model, Xperia XZ 1 and Xperia XZ 1 Compact.
On the official website it already exists as G8341 / G8342 and G8441, and it is almost certain that it will be announced on August 31, 2017, the eve of the first day of iFA.

And this time new leak information about this Xperia XZ 1 and Xperia XZ 1 Compact has come up. Some update and correction (in good way) about Xperia XZ1 and XZ1C. Previously mentioned XZ 1 screen size will be larger, around 5.4 inch.

Seems this info was "slightly" wrong, it's gonna be about the same size as XZP, which means 5.5 inch
For XZ1 Compact, its screen size gets larger to, reportedly, around 4.8inch thanks to narrower bezel.

This person used to post on the Xperia XZ 1 before about XZ or XZs that the screen size larger (5 or 4 inches) as the bezel caused thinner, this time some information on this and about XZ1c "

AnonD-535480, 19 Jul 2017I am not sure if some on here just don't understand what's ... moreSo let me get this right, Apple a greedy company that charges way over the top for its products for what is average performing device. Is going to court to sue a company who supplies Apple, Because Apple thinks it charges it to much!!!!

Are you serious or completely stupid?

A company has every right to charge what it likes for its products and licensing and patents. If Apple doesn't like it can go elsewhere! Same as people who won't pay Apple it's extortionate prices for mediocre devices.

Let me guess the court cases will be held in America where surprise surprise Apple (An American Company) will be the winners, This is typical Apple tactics to weaken and takeover said company with the patents it wants. Pure greed and corruption and destruction of competition.

Qualcomm has a product Apple wants product so sign an agreement for X amount at X price done deal. Apple gets greedy as always decides the price is too high. Normally you would renegotiate the contract but apple as always will use the courts. Apple realizes it will most likely loose so as a show of power goes to other companies it uses and offers to pay their legal fees if they join in on the bogus claim.

I am not sure if some on here just don't understand what's going on or are just blinded by the biased. Actually Apple is doing everything by the book as far as I can see publicly. When you have a dispute then you let the court decides on a resolution, which is what they are doing here. Apple is not challenging the validity of Qualcomm patents, they are however challenging what Qualcomm is charging and are willing to let the court decides on what they should be paying. I think that's what some on here are not getting.

Qualcomm is the one who does not want this thing to be decided by the courts, because they will lose a lot if the courts do decide they are charging too much. It will mean everyone else that's paying Qualcomm for those (FRAND patents) will have a case in reducing what they are currently paying. If you are Qualcomm, that decision can drastically reduced your revenue, since licensing fees make up to 2/3 of their revenue. It goes directly to their business model. Because this can affect Qualcomm bottom line so much, I do see them settling this thing with Apple before the courts do get to rule. In the meantime Qualcomm will throw a tantrum and do lots of pr moves to try to gain some leverage against Apple before the come to the table.
