It is actually why 4:3 tablets are more popular to ebook readers or those consuming a lot of web content than 16:9 tablets. If you like to read on a 2:1 (18:9) tablet or phone, then good for you. You definitely belong to another world.

You'll actually encounter more vertical black bars in an 18:9 aspect ratio than encountering horizontal black bars when viewing videos online in a 16:9 aspect ratio device.

It is why the 4:3 ipad mini provides a better reading/screen viewing experience than the Nexus 7. If 18:9 aspect ratio were so pleasant, then manufacturers should already have come up with 18:9 aspect ratio tablets or computer monitors knowing many users want them for 2:1 or wider Hollywood movies.

Give me a ratio as close as possible to the ratio of a movie screen, which is closer to 19:1.

They said you looked ridiculous taking a call on one, like you were holding a tablet to your head. Then Apple followed, with a phone that was even bigger, and suddenly large phones were beautiful and perfect.

Unless you're holding the phone close enough that it fills your entire field of vision, it makes no difference what the aspect ratio of the phone is. 18:9 is actually more ideal because fewer videos will be black barred to fit. TV shows are generally (today) 16:9, and movies are closer to the 18:9, so they can fill the screen.

Read the section titled: "Display Physical Size (per plate):", you will see that the ideal aspect ratio is 1.3 repeated, which is 4:3. Check your facts my friend instead of telling people to use their brains....

I think Note 8 has the same design as S8 plus, but Samsung trying so hard to make it look as a Note 5 and note 7 with 16.9 aspect ratio in the same time keeps 18.9.1 aka 2.1 aspect ratio as long as Note 8 kinda off looks like Note 7 and Note 5 plus a bit of flat screen not as edgy as S8 and S8 plus!. That's a good move hope Samsung get ride of edge screen or at least keep one or 2 models with edge screen and other with flat ordinary screen same as note 4 and note 4 edge 3 years ago people still don't like edge screen uncomfortable to hold and easy to shutter.

If you read the previous posts of some learned users here you should have realized that the human visual field is actually quite close to 4:3. You are probably an alien who likes having books and bond paper print outs in 2:1 (18:9) aspect ratio.

Yea, so it is rectangle, like so many other phones. Are we going to have one of these "renders" each week? Here's my guess without looking at any of the renders. The Note 8 will be about the same size or slightly larger than the S8+. It will look basically the same as the S8+.

i remember when people made fun of one phone that release on 2012 a lil bit taller than their previous phone and become lame leg when put on the pocket
