Lol, 25 Jul 2017Stock android lags??? Lol. You haven't flashed a rom yet ma... moreI never comment online but had to reply when I saw this one!
Stock ROM is garbage. Android is garbage. Unfortunately its become a necessity if an OEM is to survive.
Of course, that doesn't mean that concerns about bloatware are unwarranted. There are dozens of custom ROMS and most of them are garbage. Popular ones like touchwiz have given a bad name to all other ROMs.
Of course no ROM is ideal, but for high end devices, Sony and Blackberry have done an excellent job. BB though has been having problems with hardware, even after TCLs takeover of its hw operations.
Ever since Nokia abondoned Symbian/Meego/Java, there have been no deent options for sub 150 USD price range. Using android on these phones is like wearing a shoe 2 two sizes small.

Again. The so called stock ROM is garbage. part of the reason is that its NOT PURE ANDROID. It comes with crap like Play movies and Play books and other nonsense from Google

Here in my country, a local brand entry level smartphone named Andromax A (2016) shares the same specs for only 650K IDR (approximately 55 USD). It runs stock rom yet all it can do is laging all the time like crazy, battery drains and heats up! It's 4G Capable tho!

SD 210 + 1GB/8GB should never exist in 2017 even for 50 USD or the cheapest price possible. This is not even worth attention or the little money you spend. Better moving on to the likes of Xiaomi or Lenovo which provides better specs in the same price

Custom roms are close to stock android, the nexus rom, pixel rom, these are stock android. And they have to be modified before being compatible with a handset.

No any android should go below Nokia 3, below that there's nothing but lag and lag ... and lag.

Memory management on Android is pretty scrappy, 1GB RAM and 8GB Storage simply too low

Even though the new 3310 is undoubtedly the best handset of the year, other low budget models as such, are fine examples of low tech.

Lol, 25 Jul 2017Stock android lags??? Lol. You haven't flashed a rom yet ma... moreStock Android lags.. Because it is not optimised for a specific device.. Rather it is developed on a development platform.. You'd think that this development platform would use a low end hardware? Stock Android is good on mid to high end devices.. On low end it is better to have properly optimised Android.. Heck even the nexus/pixel has issues running stock android..

Nokia Android powered smartphones without their own version of Android is like the body without the soul.. Stock Android is just too plain and boring for me. Nokia should have an identity of their own, don't you think. After the hardware, what really matters, is that user experience. I hope Nokia will able to deliver a stellar user experience in the future with their own custom ROM..

There are a number of countries where a super budget phone is going to be "THE" phone for most people. For instance in my country a phone like that would cost 3 months of job salary for most workers. A Galaxy 8 is worth 36 months of salary... so, i think those phones and cheaper are ment for that kind of markets.

If kid start to understand things like games, then he needs something better.
I don't understand to who this phone is marketed if it comes to sale.

And nougat is nothing special for the people that need 1GB RAM phone with screen. There are old models that have better hardware and other things. And as there are lots of Chinese phone makers out there with likes of Huawei, Xiaomi, Meizu and so on.

And we cant say that Nokia is quality. My Lumia 830 is in guarantee for over 2 months by now and I use Lumia 520. We can talk about quality in few years when Nokia has developed him self a market and we know how software works with hardware and how reliable it will be. But right now we know only that Nokia is with it's first experience with the Android OS

The phone per se its a bit too low-end. In fact, 1- yes most probably it won't cost more than €100, and 2, I don't even know for which social segment is targeted to? maybe for little kids or elderly, or maximum for those on a super extreme budget. Because as it is clear, specs-wise, the phone is really poor.

Anonymous, 25 Jul 2017So now everyone hates stock Android, too? Doesn't everyb... morePersonally I don't really enjoy the aesthetic of stock. Custom roms (TouchWiz, EMUI, MIUI, etc), bloated as they may be, are more pleasing to my eyes. But then again, that's just my point of view.

Back to the topic at hand, I feel this Nokia needs to be a sub-100 phone in order to fare well. Latest stock android + timely updates(?) aren't enough to make me forget the SD210 and 1GB/8GB combo. But that's just my two cents.

No one cares about the ui. People only care that they can fo social networking and some another stuff. Mobiles are not to replace consoles or pc. You are a heavy user, buy a pc or a 800$ phone with 8gb ram(why). Present android can't even use 4 gb. Don't talk like a noob.
Android go is releasing with 8.0. it's requirement is 1gb ram.

For middle and low end buyer, overall value for money matter. Nokia is offering metal body, pure android (no bloatware), regular updates, all under $300. That's a great package and value for money.

I don't think they are targeting to get iPhone 7 and Samsung S8 customer as yet. These devices cost upwards of $600.

When Nokia 9 launches, it will have all bells and whistles of latest and greatest Apple and Samsung devices. But it will have a steep price tag as well.
