Sony Xperia XZ1 (G8341) goes through Geekbench, leaves Snapdragon 835 footprints

This is in line with earlier rumors of the mid-year flagship upgrade.

- XA and XA Ultra are midrange. Like T2, M2, M4, C3, C4 and C5 were.

- X and X Compact were premium midranges like M5.

- X Performance was a winter flagship for some markets. Many areas never got it. A phone to introduce S820 and new Auto Focus.

- XZ was the true successor of Z5.

- XZs is same story of X Perf, for selected markets.

- XZ Premium is the premium version of XZ, but came 6 months later. Sony will bring Premium every 18 months.

XZ, XZs and XZP belong to cycle 2016-17

- XZ1 and XZ1 Compact belong to new cycle, 2017-18. Next MWC we may see a "XZ1s".

In September of 2018 a new cycle begins with XZ2, XZ2 Compact and XZ2 Premium. Sony will also bring imx500.

    1 - People are just lazy AF to differentiate Sony's different models.
    XZ is for flagship
    XZ Premium is for the phablet flagship (the very best of all)
    XZ Compact is, obviously, for the small flagships
    XA is for mid range
    XA Ultra is for phablet mid range
    Count the L series for low end ones

    And you can't get this pattern? LMAO even a 5-year old kid can easily get all these series of devices.

    2 - If it's about the name of the phone that you're taking into consideration for buying a phone other than the innovative and ground breaking "bezels", I feel sorry for the stupid standards that you have.
    Okay, i get it if it's what you like, but I'm so sad for making these two variables as the major deciding factor for everything. Phones are made to be functional, not to be beautiful to everyone. You can still have both, but beauty will never be better than skills.
    Buying a new phone is just like having a new wife - which do you prefer? The beautiful and sexy body girl that got no special skills in life or that not-so-good-looking girl that can do almost everything?

Imagine the rage in the minds of the engineers making the next best thing for the marketing department just slapping a confusing name for their brand new phone that makes it seems they just released a two generations old phone.

        I truly am following the smartphone news, but ever since the Z5, it seems like everything from Sony is the same phone - XZ1, X1, X, XZ, XA, XA1, X1, X, ZXZ1, XZXZY1, what's next?

              What we can expect from Sony. Yes, it's true that they update with fresh version of Android faster that other manufacturers (due to very light skin above clean Android). They also have unique and stylish design and look. But it's not enough. Sony uses cheap painted plastic which scratches extremely easy. They should stop using this cheap material. My Xperia X Compact after 6 month of accurate use looks terrible due to scratches and overall loss of glance. Absolutely terrible material choice for phone body. It's clear that they do it because of cost saving but doing so they lose their reputation and loyal customers. Especially considering that Sony devices usually cost more that main competitors who offer even richer functionality. It's a shame that they are still unable to implement such primitive thing as night mode (blue light filter). But again - the main problem with Sony devices is cheap painted plastic company loves so much... As much as people hate it...

                just can't wait to see the fastest phone on the planet with fhd screen and if they do publicity like s8 , people will call iphone 7s a big load of shit to buy for 700$ if xz1c will be ~500$

                      Sony is deeply involved with development of this OS version (s) is not delayed in production etc, new xperia (s) at IFA will be the first non-google device to have Android O, and I believe it's something to do with the fact that .

                      "As long as there is not much delay in the production process, the new Xperia announced at IFA will be the first non-Google smartphone equipped with Android 8.0," as content.

                      It is almost certain that "New Xperia announced at IFA" is G8341 / G8342 and G8441, so it seems that these are pointing to Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact.t


                      Certainly the G8341 / G8342 and G8441 which are said to be Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are confirmed to have Android 8.0 from the code contents when they were found on Sony's website the other day.

                      Also, in the past, Sony Mobile also said that it contributed to more than 30 new functions and more than 250 bug fixes in the development process of Android O. In 8.0, it was also found that the company's audio standard, LDAC, will be native compatible It is.

                                    G8441 is said compact. I would be curious since Sony stated they wont produce any regular flagship, which includes Compacts. If they do, I'm sold. Been waiting ages since z3 Compact, hope best battery endu + updated slow-mo + with z3c dimension

                                        Sony has the worst naming schemes ever. Look at their cameras. Once A6000 found success, they released A6300, then A6500. And all three of them are still selling. Hello, there are other numbers to be used! No, they reused A6XXX. Same here. Once they found success with XZ, they just spam the market with XZs, XZ Premium, XZ Compact and now XZ1.
