I see owners bringing thick bricks with them. Defeats the purpose of buying these slim devices.

And huge amounts of powerbank capacity is wasted due to transfer loss. It is also equivalent to having a phone plugged to a wall outlet. Kills the pitiful sealed battery faster this way.

And if it doesn't return, will you stay with your G5 forever?

Removable batteries are so much better than lugging around a massive power bank complete with wires. Will be keeping my G5 for a long time while hoping some manufacturer comes to their senses.

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2017Phones struggle because LG put in Lg G6 Snapdragon 821 inst... moreLG struggle because they have poor build quality, poor quality of G5 module contact, bad reputation due to bootloops, shattergate, ugly design (the back of G5, V20, G6), poor quality screen (image retention). And LG still don't understand why the low sales. They still don't understand what did they wrong. Therefore they misunderstand the failure of G5 and started copying Samsung with glass unibody, non-removable battery and small bezels. I'm glad that even with copying Samsung their sales are still low. Maybe this time they will learn.

LCD is better than AMOLED. But unfortunately LG used the same poor quality LCD screen since G4. That's why they have image retention and other problems. All other brand's LCD screens are flawless.

Bebe Rexha, 27 Jul 2017Okay it sounds like you just like to hate something with no... moreIt's one thing how the truth sound to you, it's another what is the truth.

LG was unique because their phones had unique features. Now their phones are just the same useless fashionphones as the rest.

Non-removable batteries means planned obsolescence, because batteries have limited lifespan. It doesn't mean stronger bild, because they can get IP rating with removable battery. It means weaker build, because the glass unibody is the worst, most fragile. The power bank is not an argument, it is nonsense.

IR blaster used everywhere. A separate device is not an argument, it is nonsense.

FM Radio is much better in every way, not only in a disaster. A lot of people bring their earphones everywhere. And if there is a disaster, you still go home to pick up stuff. And it works without earphones. In fact, ANY 3.5mm jack cable enables the FM Radio. And the disaster is not the only purpose of the FM radio. The disaster argument is just an extra.

AnonD-659657, 27 Jul 2017Everyone blaming the 821 SOC. But i blame Samsung and Apple... moreNo use blaming the competition for capitalising on questionable decisions made by LG, and well you know, competing and stuff.

They are not in the business of being friends you know.

No matter how well optimized the 821 is in the G6, it is still last year's hardware. In the UK the G6 launched at £649.99, the S8 (it's primary competition) then came in at roughly the same time at £689.99.

That extra £40 got you double the base storage, the latest in SOC hardware and an arguably even better screen. Coupled with Samsung's more aggressive marketing, is it any wonder the G6 got overlooked.

LG squandered what ever lead time they may have had, then launched the G6 overpriced by at least £100, we are now seeing the inevitable results.

Had they beat the S8 to market by an appreciable length of time with a device that seriously undercut it's competitors price, then things might have been different..............

Thats because anywhere other than North America and Korea got shit customer support
In HK you have to line up 4 hrs at CS just for them to charge you $400hkd to look at your phone, and charge another $1000hkd to fix the bootloop issue WHICH IS FIXED FOR FREE NORTH AMERICA (at least from what i read online)
never buying LG again, at least not while im still in hongkong

LG missed a lot of opportunities: wrong processor used, no strong present at most region (Asian?), bootloop, support issues. If they can improve that, can easily overtake others. Branding and support is very important.

But i blame Samsung and Apple... moreYour comments beggar belief, LG rushed to release the G6 and instead of waiting for SD835s to become available rushed in with the SD821 and charged flagship prices for a non flagship processor!

You argue that most people want the latest Samsung and Apple phone......I don't believe that's true at all after all Sony sell plenty and so do One Plus and Huawei etc.

To be honest LG had a cheek to charge flagship prices for a non flagship product and what's your excuse with G5? The last excellent LG phone was the G3 in my opinion.

Your also forgetting that as the average cycle of mobile contracts is 24 months, People are always going to want the latest most powerful phone, After all its called an UPGRADE.

But i blame Samsung and Apple... moreYou completely forget the biggest reason, chinese companies who sell same stuff with so much lower price tag, all the big Android companies struggle even Samsung who just had worst Q2 mobile division quarter since 2011.

Android is too big and there's not much room for invidual companies, it's very hard to be succesful with Android these days. You have to have best Android phone or you have to sell it cheap. LG doesn't have those.

LG should focus more on mid-range phones.
Reasonable pricing, snapdragon proc, 2gb ram, removable battery, newest OS.
Should be enough to dethrone samsung.

Everyone blaming the 821 SOC. But i blame Samsung and Apple for weak sales. I mean not every smartphone consumer is techie and judge a phone by SOC. Whenever anyone steps in a mobile store with a flagship level money in pocket he always have these two brands in mind because of their hype and strong advertising and many people just like to follow others when it comes to phone so very few uses LG phones everyone has an apple or samsung in hand thats why they think like they are the best. While a sensible buyer always look for what he knows he wants out his phone but they are not so many in numbers. At the end of the day LG really needs to put money in advertising and just try to change its brand image when it comes to phones in most of minds. G6 was in my opinion a great phone despite 821(which is speedy enough), it deserved better than this.
