AnonD-402029, 28 Jul 2017best smartphone for low end is Xiaomi, huawei made the righ... moreI agree. Not only low end but also for midrange to upper midrange phones. For high end/high priced phones, it's no longer about specs and functionality. It's more of brand prestige, image/looks/appearance and bragging rights rather than functionality and features/usefulness. For that I'd say Apple has the edge because it is very strong in bragging rights and prestige, followed by Samsung. All the other brands will have to work hard on price:performance ratio just so they get the buyers' attention.

It's pretty ball statement and moves from Huawei, but it didn't surprised me after seeing and trying it's phone. I wish good luck to Huawei but I also wish they would consider mini version of the new mate 10 that is not bigger than 5.7 display.

The most annoying thing about Huawei Smartphones is software development. No updates even for flagship devices.

i guess they meant "we are exiting the low-end, that's what Honor is for".

if that means their Honor phones will now have more availability (seriously, they have the honor nova lite and the p9 lite 2017 which is exactly the same phone) then YES!

one thing to mention, how did they so CONFIDENTLY claim that their phone Mate 10 has "better photographing capability" than the next Apple iPhone? I doubt it, and I hope the next iPhone will have better photographing capability. Also, I am not interested in your monochrome dual camera setup, I rather have telephoto or wide angle like LG G6.

Mate series for phablet. Honor for upper mid range. P Series for flagship with Leica camera. Huawei should also focus on Android updates and skimming down EMUI close to stock android.

This is an excellent move on Huawei's part. It seems like they've got their foot in the door with the high end market by partnering with Leica. Hopefully we see updates!

Full screen plus better cameras and longer battery life than my Mate 9? Sign me up!

                        Right on spot.
Huawei can finally make exemplary devices and just leave the budget low ends to Xiaomi.
These two are the only Chinese OEMs that I really do love and support.
Not those Oppo or Vivo who do nothing but hype the people with selfie cameras (which does overwhitening of skin instead, making you look like an ugly plastic toy).

good call ... this only leave huawei with p-series, mate and nova for high and mid range products.

So the Huawei Y3 II won't get a sequel? Damn! :p

The problem isn't full screen display. Problem is large screen displays. All everyone is trying to make are 5.5+ screens with edge to edge. If only someone could make a phone with 5.2 or 5' edge to edge i will be sold. But sadly no manufacturer is focusing on that.

the best decision ever! Huawei is only gpod in Mid/High end range...those Y5/Y6 and other low ends is way worst than Xiaomi low end so, if you compare only low end i think Huawei lose!

Then less devices, less work so more free time to do updates for devices! hope with this we can get 3/4 versions of Android in the same phone and not the 1/2 we get now.

Huawei is gettin' better and better and the Mate 9 and P10 Plus is under my eye so, hope a little price cut and i buy one of this!

Bravo Huawei...hope LG and HTC follow the same way of thinking because they are doing it wrong...

They have headed to a dead end journey same as Apple while producing phone with skyrocket pricing more than what laptop can offer due to big amount of advertisement fee etc...
