I use my headphones almost daily so thats a deal breaker for me.. I could deal with a dongle or use bluetooth headphones which also would drain my phone battery considerably faster or i could just buy from another brand.. Yeah, i'll go with that one.

Seriously those tech head couldn't manage to put a 3.5 mm jack in the phone let alone hi-res audio. Now i am starting to like companies like sony, lg who kept a larger high-res audio driver in their phone, hell sony used to do that and waterproofing from ages long and that is what i call innovation (INNOVATION IS NOT REMOVING STUFF THEY CAN'T DEAL WITH). Nexus 5x will be the last google device from me.

You guys have really short memories. HTC's Windows Mobile smartphones had no headphone jacks more than a decade ago.

What exactly is the logic in removing the headphone jack? It makes sense for Apple since they are profiting from selling propreitary accessories from it. But for others it doesn't make sense at all.

I don't get it. It's like these companies are asking people not to buy their phones. Nobody was asking apple to get rid of the headphone jack and the only reason they were able to get away with it because they control their own ecosystem and people had no choice. With android there are dozens of options so if one company decides to screw their customers over like this, another will get their money instead. Pixel 2 = fail.

This is why I bought the first Pixel because I read rumors the successor will remove it and wasn't happy when HTC removed it in their current flagship, U11. This Pixel 2 better be water-resistant then. Eventually, I will have to give in once the sealed battery inside my current Pixel is degrading or I want more storage. Or if the battery does degrade, just get it replaced. Og Pixel got a 7/10 score from iFixit as the internals are modular.

My first Android was a Nexus One, so it only made sense to buy the first Pixel. Looking like I will stay loyal to Verizon, Pixel is the only Android to get on that network since it won't have any carrier nonsense like boot up animation and bloat. Pixel is a Nexus rebranded only to show Google on it. And no Nexus has been cheap since the Nexus 5. Nexus 6, 6P, and the first Pixels are really the first to get battery life and camera done right because Nexus 5 and before it were awful in both areas.

I could also plan to keep the Pixel until it truly dies. It isn't much to look at but I need these bezels to hold the phone while taking photos or gaming. A bezel-less phone would just seem awkward at holding nothing but screen. And easier to break. The current, smaller Pixel (aka Sailfish) is also so much easier to hold. One of the most compact phones for its specs and easier to type than on my iPhone SE. The XL is the one to get to fit it into the Daydream VR.

Long live the original Pixels! The most fluid software experience I ever had on a phone. Ever since I got it over 4.5 months ago, I have never experienced any random reboots or major glitches. My G5, V20, S7 edge, and iPhone SE all have experienced some lag, extreme overheating, frozen screen, or random reboots. I will eventually get a Pixel 3 or 4 though whether the headphone jack is there or not because I want the newest Android firmware again. This is the product line worth being loyal to like people loyal to iPhones or BlackBerry.

Get every generation of Pixel smartphones like Baby Driver got a collection of iPods. Samsung Galaxy is the FAKE Android experience to me no different than what Amazon does on their Fire tablet. Bloat after bloat, ad after ad, service after service just to be stuck in their ecosystem. That's not what Android should be. Pure Android is what it should be. Pixel for life!
