Otoh, Sealed battery fans often use the 2 year contract as an excuse to deny existence of battery degradation. Bec they're throwing it away and getting the latest hipster sealed model by then.

Anonymous, 03 Aug 2017It os an obvious money grab. It is beyond me wh you suppoor... moreI agree it's shifted the real note's purpose a bit. But I'm only saying that because ppl saying " it's just an s8+ with a pen" is just ridiculous. If you have s8+ yes there's not much difference. But we who have starved for a not for a while def see some differences here. Besides the note series wasn't really that different from the s series except the size and s pen, most features were similar. Ppl are mad because the s series got a bump in size and it's almost like a note.
Just go and get the "vast" difference between s3 & note 2, s4 & note 3 apart from size and s pen. For note 4, it remains my favourite note ever cos even though it was similar to the s5 there was some significant changes. Maybe you're rather young to remember, but the s and notes series have been similar apart from size and s pen, with just few differences.

Samsung it toks alot of time to interduce phablet

River rafter, 03 Aug 2017Well said sir. I see you've gotten a lot of praise for your... moreSamsung focused more on glam on the Note series starting Note5 - tried to take out the memory expansion with just 32GB internal for most markets, sealed 3000mAh battery, S Pen storage wrongly designed that have the S Pen stuck if placed the other way, and of course, increased the breakage probability with a glass back.

Now they have found a way to increase that breakage probability by having curved edges. Most people just accept this. It cost $225 to replace my wife's S7 Edge cracked screen. That's just from a bed height fall.

I took the Note7 last year, and the battery performance was the usual 5 hours of SOT, despite it having 3500 mAh. Watch the battery drain even faster if you use LTE. Fast charging just adds stress to the battery with more heat, making its power capacity even LESS after a few months. The S7 Edge after a year has now less than 80% of its battery capacity, even if my wife is a light user.

Seriously, a manual user battery change, or the potential of having an extended battery DIRECTLY powering (without any power transfer loss) the device would be a wonderful solution. The sealed battery concept makes less sense since batteries EXPAND while in use. Either Li-Poli or Li-Ion, those things will eventually expand or blimp out at the end of their expected limited life.

As a heavy user, I am well satisfied with my trusty almost 4-year-old Galaxy Note 3 with a 10,000 mAh that gives me a maximum 15 to 18 hours SOT from one charge. It's not for every one, but it eliminates my wasting time having to charge it in the middle of the day. Even THAT has an 12 to 18 months before battery degradation starts showing significantly.

If you aren't into the changing the battery daily, it is to check every 3-4 months if the battery is showing signs of defect - hence, the deformity of the actual battery within a year.

I think having to carry around powerbanks is a poor excuse to having a thin phone that has the most features around, yet it can't hold much juice to power it up for a whole day's use. I can stand it!

I can say I want that better f/1.7 camera and upgraded S Pen with at least 4000+ level of pressure sensitivity. However, I can expect to be charging before I go home. I'm actually thinking of buying a brand new Note 4 first (to be paired with a Zerolemon 10,000 mAh battery), and probably the Note8 as a supplementary since my "free" device from my subscription is way overdue - since the Note5 days. Dang it, I have to carry around two devices now.

AnonD-465807, 03 Aug 2017May be best to wait for the Red Hydrogen smartphone.1500 USD or more for Titanium finish. The specs aren't announced, yet the pre-orders have begun already. Trust me a lot of sheeple are there in the boat all for that brand name "RED". Considering the history of RED being cash cows in the market, be ready to expect a hell lot of expensive modules from them as an add on. I would be glad, if they don't sell the phone's charger separate. Being RED, I won't expect anything less ! If the holographic phone become a hit, it will be a big blow for the Microsoft's Hololens and Google's Project Tango.

A phone that big and just 3300mah battery? Can't be true. Even Samsung are not that retarded. I'll reserve judgement until its been announced. If its true, Samsung shouldn't expect to sell many. Too many phones come with a bigger battery capacity and a ton of features for users, that Samsung could get away with such a compromise.

You are either (extremely) young to remember how differentiated Note series was from S series or you are a Samsung employee. Either way you are wrong. We had a pro series coming from the top manufacturer in the world and now we do not ... simple as that.

If you want to buy S series + a gimmick or two you are welcome to buy the new note, the rest of us have to take our business elsewhere. I mean the very elongated screen cancels the point of a pen, it was obviously not built for Notes (Note 8 I mean), it is obviously a phone that they would not bother redesigning for the extra uses that a pro phone has... Why should I (or anyone) pay for that?

We used to love the Note series for its attention to detail. Where is that now? Maybe the two teams merged and basically we get the same phone? (Ever since Note 5), because if yes I do not see the point of continuing the Note series other than moneygrab purposes. The pro crowd has long been out ever since they stopped catering to it (no IR for presentations, no infinite autonomy, narrow screen, etc...)

The only th... moreDear sir, I didn't say the hardware slows down or "wrinkles" as you pointed out. Haha . Just said that faster hardware for a later launch from the S8 would make sure the note 8 lasts longer. It is justified for the price we pay.
And as for the camera quality, yes it does depend on pixels but not pixels alone. The sharpness and detail has taken a step backwards after the note 5 when Samsung decided to go down to 12MP, though low light and image focusing have gotten a boost. Samsung with their *technology* and capabilities should and can develop a newer sensor. It's about time they stop making software improvements alone.

And secondly, I didn't lose the pen out of carelessness, it fell out of the casing cause it had gotten loose :\ I wouldn't think even you'd notice that if you happen to be on a call or something. Maybe you should think about other people and how they lose stuff. Maybe you lose things out of carelessness alone but other people lose stuff out of some other circumstances too. Can't describe any more. And what about dropping the phone? Surely you've dropped your phone at least once? I'm talking about the average consumer. Most people drop their phones cause nobody glues their phone to their hands when using it. Plus the glass build has proven to be very slippery. Even with a case on, the curves make the glass too exposed to get hit on the ground and get cracked.

Also the battery. It is common sense that a bigger battery will not wear down faster than a smaller one made to last long with extensive power optimisation. With newer software updates the phone will have greater power usage for which the small battery will not sustain. Hardware = more expensive than software optimization. That cut short expense translates to profit that samsung can get. At the cost of our money.

And lastly, I'm not expecting the phone to be perfect. The original users of the note have a set of expectations from the note series that Samsung isn't delivering these days. It's like they have lost their original motives.

I am like a few of those who wish the note series comes back to the same level it once lived up to. I'm not a hater. I support no other phone, and like most I am waiting for the note 8 and to upgrade to it if it is worth it. I didn't show any hate, at least not as much as you did on your post!.

And if it isn't worth it, I won't buy it. What you said makes it seem like I'd lose something in that. Well, NO. I save my money for a better phone at that. Please refine your comment. This is not a fanboy sections, this is a comments section where people express their concerns.

                                    Wait!

"These will be coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage."

Expandable? I'm guessing it's suppose to be "64GB INTERNAL storage".

There should be a 128GB version.
