AnonD-558092, 06 Aug 2017Because... Money. It's not only more energy efficient but also more stable, during heavy use the 650 chipset heats up then down-clocks it's 2 powerhouse processors, this has the effect of making it SLOWER than the 625 running @ full speed, the modem is also more stable

Where's the review? It's long overdue

i'd get one if it had an AMOLED display and a camera with 1/2.5" and OIS.

@GSMA staff: Kindly edit this part: " It is the same as in the Mi 6, but with a brighter f/2.2 aperture".
f/2.2 is not "brighter" than F/1.8.
Also, please have an "internal comment/ report" feature for all your articles, so one doesn't post this in open.

                              bb1rd, 06 Aug 2017Mi max2 has much better speakers,better build,larger batter... moreI don't believe you.

I rather wait for proper reviews to talk about the build quality (JRTG) and speaker performance (pocketnow).
With that said, Xiaomi is well known to make side-grades on their devices.
Case in point; Redmi Note 3 vs Redmi Note 4.

I've been using it for a week and here's few things that stood out for me:

                                  * Great build quality and relatively lightweight. Pictures don't do it justice. 7.3mm slimness with 2.5D curves that continues to the back with the curved aluminium frame feels great in the hands. Also, very slippery!

                                  * Poor viewing angles. The blacks quickly become ugly grey/solarization effect. But the size and sharpness is great for my usage.

                                  * Bootloader unlocking is a MAJOR pain in the ass! I have applied at the official unlock website but poor server side implementation means that it takes several days before the device and account gets linked. (search "xiaomi 86012 error")

                                  * Fingerprint sensor is superfast, camera is okayish, speaker sound is good, battery life is great, MIUI8 is not my cup of tea (although I do like some features, I really prefer stock so in that regard Lenovo P2/Moto G5 Plus are better).

                                  * Another MIUI quirk is that indoor GPS sucks! GMaps works fine (although unstable) but every other apps (including the built-in MIUI device locator) is very inaccurate. I've also tried GPS Status & Toolbox app and there's never been a satellite lock indoors.
                                  Outdoors, things work great.

                                  * Cell reception and data/WiFi speeds are decent, nothing spectacular.

Overall very decent phablet. Pretty much the only well specced 6.4 incher.

Looks good already, especially the huge 5300 mAh battery :D

                                    Now if we compare this:
                                    Mi Max 2 6.4": huge 5300 mAh w/ power-efficient SD 625

                                    Shamesung Note 8 6.3": tiny 3300 w/ battery-gobbling SD 835

Add to that the outlandish price of the Shamesung, for which you could get three Mi Max 2.
Horrible price/performance ratio on the Shamesung side for horrible battery life.

I used to have an LG V20 and I was looking for something that's more reliable in power and I changed to A7 2017, it was a downgrade but I became happier with it and then the battery was again becoming an issue for me till I found this Mi Max 2 from Xiaomi I got completely satisfied when I got this unit almost 3 weeks ago. It's a great buy. 👍

rc, 06 Aug 2017Lenovo really? don't expect update from them. While on xiao... moreIt's running on Nougat already. Pretty stable update and outstanding performance both in terms of battery (8-10 hours SOT) and user experience. That AMOLED display is gorgeous. Did I say its audio quality overshadows even the flagship music phone called Vibe X3? And its external speaker is louder than 95% of the phones out there.

Lenovo P2 is one heck of a phone meant only for those who appreciate things and not those who know only to crib about lack of a thing or two.
