Fergesson, 18 May 2011They will need a processor both efficient and fast. I hear ... morehi..if i'm not mistaken, a dual core Arm Cortex-A9 running at 500MHz would be equivalent to an Intel atom running at 1.6GHz in terms of performance if this video is legitimate..

I've just read the whole 99 pages over at http://talk.maemo.org http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=73176&page=99

Looking at the videos. Something is strange. When the back of the device is shown in the teaser ad leak. The back looks very different when compared to other pics of this supposed N9 KB device.

yet some people are certain there will be a slim device without KB which will appeal to the masses which is supposed to have super upgraded hardware over this device with keyboard.

So much confusion, speculation, it all feels intriguing, enigmatic & super frustrating. Everyone is trying to make sense of all the data they have from the first FCC filings to the teaser ad to the pictures & the dissassembled device lurking about that site who have disesected this device.

What really is going on. Look at the tease where it shows the back the device at http://mynokiablog.com/2011/05/17/video-holy-crap-its-the-nokia-n9-or-n950-meego-phone-teaser-advert/comment-page-4/#comments

nynokiablog are supposed to have dissected what they think is KB device from 2010 which matches this device front facing images & KB. But the teaser adshow a back which looks appears to not match this device. This device with KB in rumour mill.

So speculation remains that this is the only device which got FCC approval nothing has been said about a 2nd Meego device being released this year. So is this a dev device or are we getting something totally different with a sleek elegant look without a KB.

That would surely upset some Maemo meego geeks who prefer a HW KB anyway.

        What do you think?

        So

All sources of info are sure June is when this device will be released. It might be worth pointing out that the Meego integrated into tablets, netbook, in-vehicle system, Smart tvs. It is a completetly different breed of linux with Nokias own UX & UI as far as I know!

The device looks to have a 4.0" screen according to that video. I'm wondering whether the device will be another of Nokia's resistive touch or whether this will be a capacitive device with touch pen functionality stylus much like it's predecessor - the N900.

I also happen to know that Meego built for tablet & netbook should be able to handle 800x480 or higher 1280x720P display res maybe for higher tablet. Theres no doubt that all Meego variants will be able to support this display resolution though. Even 848x480 or 960x480 would be nice especially if Nokia release it with AMOLED screen. And who knows whether it will be CB clear black.

It's also unknown whether this device will include a Magnetometer, gyroscope. Although it will probably integrate a accelerometer, proximity sensor. One dissapointing module I'll miss is the fact there will not be an IR transmitter anymore since the technology is old & not in high demand.

But 12MP camera with autofocus is nice 28mm ultra wide shots is a nice thing. Also High Definition picture & video quality is 720P & 1080P is very nice to have & should have multi format support with codecs to play any format/container of HD movie. USB on the go is also very nice to have to use the tablet as a host device.

HDMI is also very nice to have, putting Samsung galaxy S II to shame with the MHL port or whatever they call it. There is nothing like using the proper HD standards multimedia interface for trur HD content. Especially as this hints at it possibly incorporating Dolby 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 chipset inside which would be very impressive.

Bluetooth 3.0 HS is very nice especially if it uses an advanced 802.11 N standards Wireless radio receiver to boost file transfers data bandwith speed, DLNA would be nice just like on the N900 to control other home wireless devices! Also the fact that the wireless module might allow the phone to be a wireless Access Point.

The memory capabilities should outrun any Android device from HTC, Samsung aswell. For my N900 I am currently using 130MB of 240MB of RAM. Swap file 121MB of 768MB for page filing virtual memory if RAM runs low. On rootfs I am using 74MB of 227MB free, on Home I am using 420MB of 1.97GB free. And Mydocs is using 6.30GB of 27.00GB leaving me with 20.70GB free & I have 21 hours of music on there.

At the moment I have no need whatsoever for a MicroSD external memory card. The N9 could have 64GB of internal device HDD memory. Eve more RAM 768MB of RAM is niiiice. I mean 256MB was plenty but that's just lucious. I have 151 processes running on my N900 & I have 81 packages including programs widgets installed.

I am able to run six contacts on first desktop with 21 shortcuts & 1st Date today widget. On 2nd desktop I am able to OMWeather widget, Moonphase widget, Analogue Clock Widget, 2nd Date today widget & TouchSearch widget. On the 3rd Homescreen i am able to runMediaplayer widget, AP news widget, sleeper widget, & 1 FM Radio shortcut.

One the 3rd Desktop I am able to run RSS widget, 3rd Date today Widget, Calendar Home Widget, Email widgets & 1 Angry Birds shortcut. I did have a load more shortcuts on my dekstops but it was positivly too cluttered somewhat had to tidy the desktops a little!

All in all I am convinced although Maemo didn't take off as a platform & doesn't have a solid Appstore & as a platform didn't get manufacturers involved because it's open source. There are really more than enough apps available for your choosing & all the apps I am running run stable & are not gimmicks either.

I am certainly convinced that through community developers & Nokia with the latest PR1.3 update has made this a solid platform on which only a few plugins or apps are required to make it a whole rounded package with the complete functionality & it probably only needed a slight bit more polishing but it is there.

I am totally happy & I think the N9 with Meego will take it one step ahead with a more polished look & more stability. It will bring it into the HD era. Maemo 6 or Meego will really step up the UI experience as Maemo alreay does everything Symbian should have done in the first place. Happy linux to you all. hehehehehe

Until recently i've been a strong Andoid fan but no longer! Android, iphone and windows phone are all engaged in user spying plus they have this "KILL SWITCH"! Only symbian and rim blackberry doest have a kill switch or user tracking/spying mania! So now it makes sense why US corporations such as AT&T dont want Nokia on their shelves! I will only buy Nokia from now on and I suggest you guys dont just believe what im telling you but google this out and research for yourself!

Nokia rules! In my whole I had the following phones:

Nokia 5xxx (those old bricks), Nokia 3300, Nokia 6682, Nokia N95, Nokia 6120c, Nokia N93, Nokia N97 and now Nokia E71. I wanted to buy the N8, but I guess I'll wait for the N9.

All I have to say about these phones is INNOVATION.

PS.: I have to admit I bought an iPod, got tired of it, broke it and got rid of it. I had like 300 apps, none of them were useful.

This phone is not a Symbian OS based phone.
This is too fast and responsive to be a Symbian, It's a Meego Phone.
Can't wait for it to be official. I'm currently using Nokia N8 which I love, but waiting for the Anna update anxiously -_-
It's been too long, but I guess they better be sure it won't cause problems and test it long enough before they release it. :)
None the less Nokia is Finally catching up which I like :)
BTW If Google Android goes down all the manufacturer such as Samsung, SE, Motorola, LG, HTC and the rest will be pretty much sc*wed, because they don't have their own OS like Nokia does. (Samsung BADA is an exception)
Think about it! Too much so something isn't always the best thing.

And from Nokia's Finnish website Ääni, Nokia tells that we will maybe hear more about "Jessie's Girl" in the near future, in couple of weeks :). So, maybe MeeGo is called somehow as Jessie's Girl :))

I'm so excited about MeeGo and N9 :)

I did actually mean that the "Task Swticher" is very different because it's a Linux Meego "Task Switcher". Therefore the only thing that makes people think it's Symbian at first UI glance is the Symbian Inconography that Meego User menu is usin! That's the only element taken from Symbian. It's all pure bugatti veyron linux Meego under the hood lol lol. Android whatch out. We needs as much support as possible for Meego to take off. It's going to be awesome. heck I'm still impressed with my maemo N900. People look at my phone & want to know what's running the thing!

The It would of ben nice if they kept the Mozilla Web browser though. This runs amazingly on my N900 stock or overclocked. Its the smoothest seamless web experience I've had & every page renders perfectly since I bought the device & post content runs deven flash!
