Anonymous, 06 Aug 2017Who uses 2 Gbs of Ram, apple or oneplus? Open source or no... more"Better" is a relative term, that isn't even universal, but rather dependent on your priorities and actual needs. You may say a Ferrari(/Lamborghini/Maserati) is "better", except that if I need to carry over 5 people (such as in a mini-van) or if I need to move large objects then your Ferrari is crap to me.

Same holds true in the smartphones world. OpenSource is software freedom, you may say all you want that North Korea dictatorship is more efficient in some regards, but I want freedom. Your "better" is not my better.

Without apps or support, Tizen is crap. Your "better" is not my better. Same goes for all your other "better" alternatives.

Open source or not, better is better.

Throughout its history, every alternative has been better than Android, and as much as I hate any software from Samsung, I have to say even Tizen is better on a 70$ device

Wow, a smartphone company and a Chinese one at that, is actually listening to its non-Chinese fans who hate their Chinese iCrapUI? Yep, the End of the world is nigh!

Ios is capped at only apple. Let it make open source and let it used by brands like micromax on a mtk processor then u will cmd that even ios is crappy and workds good on good hardware. Ios is just n example liet it be ur so called blackberry os.

Remember a time when we had BB, WebOS, WP and Meego?

Android was literally the worst piece of crap and only sold because of the app situation.
Now that theres no competition (and of course google had more than half a decade to improve android) its finally become usable on good hardware. Still struggles badly on lower price hardware despite huge gains.

And I never said touchwiz was good. Its actually worse than plain android.
Try Blackberry next time, if you can get over its hardware problems. Puts plain android to shame.

Kyo, 06 Aug 2017True you are absolutely correct except that even mid-range ... moreIf you compare a corolla with a toy car, it might seem really fast to you. But that doesnt mean that its a fast car.
Nexus might seem good android but can you really compare it with other OS like iOS or even BB?
Android 6 and above have been usable and that too only because of monopoly. Nearly 2 billion phones are sold every year with 82% of them being Android and all of them power googles search. They already had huge resources and now they have even more with mobile OS monopoly (Apple is not really competition since they only serve the top 5%)

Otherwise every other version of android has been unusable garbage which needed optimization and improvements, and still does compared to iOS, the only remaining alternative.
Even if we exclude iOS, I dont get your criticism of Sony. I never thought I would be able to live with the garbage that is Android but after using Xperia Z1 I use it as my daily phone along with a 6 year old Symbian device!
I also bought 6 Xperias XAs on ebay, gave 3 away and sold the remaining.
They get fast updates and are every bit as fast as anything that can be at this price.
Last year I bought a Blackberry Priv and Xperia Z4.
The BB has lousy hardware and its 808 processor heats up because its so thin, but the software is excellent. Pure android is more like plain android here.
As for the Sony tablet, it doesnt overheat despite the snd 810 inside. And so fast, people literally point it out after using it for the first time.

It has to be taken into context that Anuj Sharma is saying "Indian consumers want stock Android", which is plain false since the best seller phones of India in Android segment are Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo which are HEAVILY customised, skinned FORKS of Android. Even Gionee doesn't come close with it's proper SKIN (Amigo is NOT a fork).....So my previous comment stands that it's a cost cutting venture and nothing more.

BS, this move is because Lenovo needs to lay off some staff to develop those skins and also consider delivering timely updates. Now with the K series enjoying Mediatek chipsets, all Lenovo has to do is to request mediatek to deliver the stock chipset ROM, work on some battery optimization and add the 3rd party Dolby and other software (which are, well, externally developed and readily available for MTK stock ROM). This leaves Lenovo with very little work to do.....I imagine they'll even siphon off the image processing algorithms to the stock ones in the Mediatek DSP. This is lenovo becoming an ODM rather than an OEM....

The biggest problem is that custo... moreTrue you are absolutely correct except that even mid-range Sony phones do lag alot after sometime unlike the old Nexus so in reality no one has truly mastered a good Android experience.(Well maybe except CyanogenMod or it's successor lineageos)

The vibe ui was crap when i used it on my friends phone, then i got myself k6 power and the pureui experience was great, as it was near to stock but with extra features added, now they they are moving to stock android they will probably keep some additional features, just some features will be removed from the pureui, like the icons, theme centre, option to switch vibe and android etc.
Useful features like theatremax, dual apps, secure zone will be present... lets see what happens when k8 note gets announced.

Dear Lenovo, if you are so much concern about the updates and sticking to stock, the please bring the updates an volte to your 2016 flagship phone vibe X3. We all know that you have purposefully ditched the phone on software updates front.. But this is very bad on your part to do this strategy.. I urge you to at least bring volte update and a stable marshmallow version..

Yours here is likely the first time I have ever anyone openly discuss not liking so called stock Android. Personally, I am indifferent when it comes to custom UI or a lack there of. Regardless, it's refreshing to hear someone voice a unique opinion on this matter. Cheers :-) .

Now I'm on Oneplus 3t and i found out that i like more Oxygen OS than Miui.
I like more the feel of stock android over Ios lookalike Miui even if both of these optimized androids have theres respected features.
Oxygen OS is bit boring but still the fastest android experience i have ever had. More than a half year old, running on Nougat 7.1.1 and blazing fast. No lag at all. Honestly, after trying this i would never go back to overlaying android versions with tons of features (you will never use) just slowing down your phone and sucking all the juice in the process. And this is not to bash Xiaomi coz i think that older Samsung galaxy's (S4,S5,...) are the worst, its just my opinion.
