DNeighbor, 15 Aug 2017Honestly, the zoom lens is something we never asked for. Bo... moreThat's typical for Samsung, you always get crap that no one ever asked for.
e.g. that awful edge, the most useless gimmick ever, fragile as an egg shell... They should've named it "S7 egg" instead of "S7 edge".
Or those tiny batteries that no one ever wanted. Tiny 3300 mAh on a Note with huge screen and 2k resolution, that's pathetic.

Optical zoom is way better than digital .
But it is useless if it is not much.
2x is not enough. Waste of money and time .
Object looks to be no more than 2m closer...
If you wanna provide optical zoom, just use 4x or 5x...

Anonymous, 15 Aug 20172X zoom is quite useless. Would have preferred 3X.agree. either zoom 3x or super wide angle like LG. sammy should be able to get out from the zoom 2x territory.

DNeighbor, 15 Aug 2017Honestly, the zoom lens is something we never asked for. Bo... moreI have been waiting for some actual zoom (not just interpolation) since approximately my first smartphone (2003 Motorola A920), but just 2x feels a bit like a 1999 Canon PowerShot S10, better than nothing, yet not enough tele even for nice portraits.

Honestly, the zoom lens is something we never asked for. Bokeh effect can be achieved through software. A very wide angle would have been useful.
I do hope some 3D scanning feature will be included. Surprise us, Samsung.

So no wide angle then like the awesome one on the LG G5? (Much underrated phone.)

It is way too huge to me, but I like the design, and that the lenses and other stuff are located within a symmetrical placed rectangle.
And there seems not to be a hump for the camera - good job!
