Weekly poll: now that the Nokia 8 is official, is Nokia back?

20 August 2017
The fabled brand took a long, winding path to where it needed to be - making high-end Androids. But did HMD do enough?

AnonD-521587, 21 Aug 2017its likely to have a good camera but i agree it doesnt quit... morewell i think they have clearblack but it has no name cz microsoft patent, but i dunno about pureview as its probably cz microsoft patent but we have amazing audio with Nokia OZO and Zeiss lens!

Not yet, maybe later, let HMD first grab some experience and market first is to early to pick them yet

No.Nokia's not back, and the press playing up to it for cash don't help. This is a start up company called h m d, not Nokia. "nn" iiiiiiits not...nokia.

Yann, 21 Aug 2017Bezels and HDR screen are not deal breaker for me, but few ... moreits likely to have a good camera but i agree it doesnt quite fee like a nokia. And they dont have clearblack and pureview because not all the patents have transfered.

im going to wait for next year.

It is good to see the Nokia brand back again. And to see them make such a stunning comeback is all the better for the consumer. So what if the Nokia 8 does not tick all of the boxes, it still looks like a supreme mobile device. I certainly would get one if I were in that segment of the market. Well done to Nokia for going done the Android route with their new smart devices.

Nokia is only trying to compete with certain manufacturers. Nokia knows there are certain people that won't buy some of the chinese brands because of the spying issue (huawei, blu, zte). Nokia is back in my mind!! The Nokia 6 would be the best low budget phone if only they would've used the Snapdragon 625 and they will make that change soon with their strategy. Nokia will have a phone for every segment of the market. Believe it or not, there is a majority of the population that could care less about playing games on their phones and use them as phones. Good job Nokia and keep trucking with HMD!

I'm always looking forward to the next hate-filled comment just to have a good laugh. The Nokia 8 is one phone among many, either you buy it or you don't. This "life or death" attitude amazes me. I'm a huge Nokia fan by the way, and I'll be getting the Nokia 8.

What is more convenient - to touch the screen every time, or just half press the button and after focusing to countinue pressing till make the shot?
Companies, like Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC etc, saving costs with absence of camera button.
                        Only SONY still produce it.

So, let's look from that perspective:

IF the camera sensors is THE SAME as LG G6, No Fuss over the SoC, flagship-level performance, and so on, then G6 is the MOST worth to buy, not Nokia 8!

The problem is, all u Nokia nerds are bunches of HYPOCRITES. You say "specs are not everything", yet ALWAYS says "for THE SPECS (SD835, Zeiss-made lenses, OZO, Dual 4K video recording gimmick), Nokia 8 is not overprice / cheap"!

                            Nokia is KING !!!!!

It's a solid device. I will wait for the next Design-step to buy one though since the bezels are too big and I hate fingerprint/homebuttons on the front. The back is nice, no need to change that.
