AlexG, 24 Aug 2017Why not Essential phone? It has stock android same as Pixel's.Because it is from an unknown company with bad value which thinks it is the next OnePlus.

AnonD-632062, 24 Aug 2017Oreo & SD 836 make for a potent combination. Just hope ... moreBut the price will be very high despite not having anything special for the buyer, not even extended software support. I don't think one should really consider this device.

Again that feeling. One look and mind goes: bezellls.

That's ugly...now that even Apple is gonna launch a phone with small bezels, Google comes out with a 2014 look a like phone with huge bezels. Oh my...

Don't know why, but Google is still going to launch it with that much thick bezels where all the other competitors are trying to produce phones with lesser and lesser bezels.

AnonD-569198, 24 Aug 2017Like the Pixel, will you be able to server caviar and p&aci... moreIf you care about value for money, the latest flagship phones generally are a bad idea.

Value for money is a compromise. Compromises really limit flagships. So value for money limits flagships.

AlexG, 24 Aug 2017Why not Essential phone? It has stock android same as Pixel's.I prefer phones from google so that don't have to worry about updates and stock OS. My nexus 5x is still going solid. Essential is new in market and no way to judge how they will handle updates.

If you want fastest and longest update and you have trust issue (don't trust other brand even Essential, don't trust custom ROM), Pixel (XL) 2 is the only way to go. The only problem is that it's not available at the worldwide level.

If you want a bezel-less phone get the Pixel 2 XL, I prefer functionality over aesthetics, so normal Pixel 2 w/ top notch speakers for me!

Oreo & SD 836 make for a potent combination. Just hope it still has a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Gpran, 24 Aug 2017Could be a good phone but the bezels are just too much for ... moreI agree to much bezels I think I stick to my nexus 6.Have Not found worthy successor.
But I want phone that upgrades fast to newest Os.and That makes me stick to google
Apple and Microsoft upgrades all their phones.(If hardware supports it)

Another way to look at it could be that those who can buy the pixel can obviously afford the caviar, and can serve it on the bezel (or even, as their staff to serve it on the bezel)

Like the Pixel, will you be able to server caviar and pâte on the lower bezel of the Pixel 2?

Like the Pixel, will the Pixel 2 be such a bad value that you can't afford the caviar and pâte to serve on the lower bezel?

Again same old story repeated here when market was running behind 820 Pixel launched with 821 to add up to the hype and now when now everyone is using 835 they will land with 836. Is this strategy adopted to increase the product cost or is there any ground level work in the SOC (836) specific to Pixel being added ? Other Android product with SD-835 costing $799 and here Pixel-2 premium comes with $890. This is really bad for Pixel and all I see Google is not giving what Nexus owners deserved. My pockets are already close to empty and will not Shell money on this [smart]=Phone

Could be a good phone but the bezels are just too much for me. Will wait to see what pixel xl looks like. If that doesn't have slim bezels then im jumping to iphone this year.

If you care to get into the google environment: Google did almost everything right on the Pixel, except two things.
                                      1. too expensive for what ist is hard- and software-wise
                                      2. super suboptimal battery
I am still using a LG Nexus 5. And that phone is still modern to this day. Had they put in a stronger battery back then - I would still be using it as an above middle class smartphone today.
But alas, no company listens to the consumer as far as battery life is concerned.
