The best all round phone I ever owned. Fast, great screen, great battery life, removeable battery, sd card, waterproof. It just did everything, and did it well.
I also had a Note 4 a bit later on which was amazing but was just a little too big.

Wonderful News. The S5 is a great phone and it is ageing gracefully.

[deleted post]We don't care about iPhones.
iPhone 4 was supported for 4 straight years. It was also updated for 4 iterations of iOS - none of which has brought a File Manager app for the files, when even the very first Android phone has it.

MdN8, 26 Aug 2017Believe or not - I just checked the classifieds - Note 4 is... moreNote 4's sadly still quite pricey for what it is, but I'm looking forward to get one, just because I trust an old flagship more than any modern mid range or budget phone today.
Only a few mid rangers have got a QHD sAMOLED screen as well.

And yes, my friend is using the default camera app. It did get hot from my experience, so maybe I exaggerated to overheating but it did get quite hot.

Really holding their price. So that's out of the question, sadly.
As for the camera, I'm coming from a Nokia N8 and I know it's not the best if I zoom to 100%... However, it's fast and reliable, and macro, panorama, video (including sound) and HDR are excellent. It's alright and I still see some new midrange devices with worse results. Is your friend using the default camera app? One evening I was on some festival and took almost a hundred photos and a few short videos, used less than 20% of battery, and it wasn't overheating (it does get hot when playing some games). But if I try some alternative camera apps it's like they eat the battery just by being opened. Anyway, I still have the N8 too. ;-)
I appreciate the water resistance, though, I'm spending quite enough time outside.

MdN8, 26 Aug 2017It's outdated as a flagship, of course, but I'm on a budget... moreWhen it comes to old flagship, I'd say that while this phone isn't really bad, I suggest you get the Note 4 instead, unless you don't want a large screen or you're on a really tight budget that the Note 4's out of your budget range, or even if you want a waterproof device (which isn't really spectacular or anything but it's there).

My friend owns an S5 and oftentimes it overheats like crazy when camera's being used. Oh, and the camera's not really that great, at least not that it can beat today's mid rangers or even budget devices.
Note 4 is a superior device in almost every aspect so paying a little more would guarantee you a far more reliable device in the long run, and you're gonna be safe that you won't feel left by the time with the still relevant QHD sAMOLED display of it.

Wonder if that's some court ruling forcing them to keep it security-wise updated for a 3 year period. Anyway, that's certainly a good thing for the end users and samsung brand name.

I don't know about here in the EU, but I bookmarked an article from April saying that the S5 had more users in the US (15.6% share of Samsung’s installed base) than S6 (11.4%) or S7 (11.5%).
