Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo receives Android 7.0 Nougat update

28 August 2017
It's a rather surprising move given the fact that this model is two years old.

The second wave of the Nougat update has been released too. Rogers (and their subsidiaries), Bell (and their subsidiaries), most other regional carriers, and the factory unlocked variant can all get Nougat now.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2017*Game Launcher not Gaming FeatuersIt has been since 6.0. But it reduces the 3d performance when you use game tuner. I am playing all games in 540p because how laggy they are on a5 2016. And that window feature was in 6.0 as well.

Apolodor, 28 Aug 2017Nougat or marshmallow, same features, just different look. ... moreThe main feature of Nougat is the native multi window feature that you can enforce on all apps. You also can use freeform floating windows. This one feature is the reason why Nougat is the best Android.

I wonder whether S5 Neo's nougat has the Samsung's Gaming Features to reduce screen resolution of games?

So far the update has been released for a few of specific carrier-branded variants of the device. ("TLS" Telus and "KDO" Koodo are both the same company; "ESK" Eastlink is a regional carrier on the East coast; I don't know who "SPC" is.)

Hopefully they'll also release the update for the factory-unlocked variant (XAC) because I don't want to risk changing my phone's branding in order to obtain the update.
