People that buy phones every year do it because they want to, not because they need to. I know people still using M7 & S2 and god knows how old iPhone, because all look the same in a case and still have access to the apps that they want.
But OEMs make new phones every year and make it a grand event because they know there's alot of people like you that think they are missing something if they don't upgrade every time. I even see stupid people that have the S8 and asking tech reviewers if they should upgrade to the note 8.

Kinda like sonys premium, getting luxury tech for bigger price. Well this will be new kind of premium if price goes 999+. Seems like a lot will be spent next year, with apple fans and haters alike.

Just upgraded to Galaxy S4 from Samsung Infuse and Mythic. Will look for the iPhone 8 on eBay in 5-6 years.

The iPhone 5 was my first real smartphone. The Xperia X10 mini pro doesn't count because it is garbage. Today I use a 7 which just replaced the 5 in January, but it's design is still amazing
And I know there will be a comment asking who cares.
