The author quotes the TCL statement... Period!
If people are buying it "en masse", it is a success!
Releasing the "Krypton" W/O KB, is a demand by those who don't like KBs!
Bottom line: "Vox populi, Vox Dei"...
Stop TRASHING what's good, want something different, bigger: carry your NoteBook like the bums were carrying stereos back in late "70's!

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2017It is for its offering ver price vs size. Fact. Period. 8... moreagain, you confuse raw specs with fit for purpose. I do not want a 6.2" screen - the phone would be too large. a few mm in thinkness are not meaningful. I do like the premium look and feel, appropriate of a business-focused phone. And the camera is really quite good (I'm comparing this to my previous Galaxy S7). Value to the user...that's subjective. For me, and for others, $550 is appropriate value for this set of features. for you, clearly not.

There is one Android keyboard phone available in the UK. This is the Keyone. This si a high end unit, but they need to produce a keyboard phone for mid-range.....

The non-keyboard phone market is crowded.....

I still holding out for a booklet phone like T-Mobile G1, with a hard keyboard and 5' display. Every phone is the same for 90% of everyone's needs. Humans do not care if an operation is half a sec faster but are about battery and ffat fingers.

And it's not just the battery life. It was the display size, battery size, and comparable size of the devices with the dramatic thickness of the keyone under utilizing battery space.
As well as the flagship like price point with mid range offerings.

Im saying the same thing about Samsung...And again the same outcome. The battery life is surprisingly well with the Note8....But that doesnt change the fact of the size and price and how little size it offers for that. And i dont know if its true optimizing or software hardware limiting that yielded such good results out of it.
And Sony XZP. massive increase in size with nothing to show for it. But at least these offer other technologies for their price point. And really good promotions and freebies.

You can have the Note8 for as little as $12.75/month only costing $306 after your payments are done. With up to $440 of included goodies.
That's far cheaper for a far superior device in most ways.

And also I have made similar complaints on LG and HTC since about 2013.

Simply put for the price, size of device, supposed power sipping of the SoC, mid ranged SoC at this price, small 4.5 display at this price point, how little power a smalli display like that shoudl consumer, and the battery capacity being so low for such a thick device....I don't mind size if it is utilized....The battery life is ok, but falls very short of what it should be.
Phones with .5-1.5 inch bigger displays and higher resolutions and similar sized batteries get the same or better in video playback for instance....And don't tell that doesnt matter on a device like this or act as if that is the only thing im basing off of.

Not to mention the issues plaguing it.
