30 May, 2011
This is certainly on of the few devices released lately, whose main highlight is located on its back. Say hello to the ASUS Padfone, people - the company's first smartphone with a tablet included as an accessory...

[deleted post]I wonder if you have ever tested Android. If you had, you'd agree that it DOES work better than Symbian. No one ever told you that you have to stick with Nokia. Why do you want to use half-done phones, when you can get a phone that has everything that your Nokia is lacking. What I mean is, proper web browsing experience, more sensitive touchscreen and finally, the real performance for like gaming. I don't say that Nokia is bad, but if you have, and most likely do, you know that Nokia's web browsing is not the best one around. The browser crashes too many times. Nokia just doesn't seem to know how to make smartphones. WP7 will be another story, better I hope. And yes, I am currently writing this on Nokia 5800 XM, and I own two Nokia smartphones, but they are just awful.. Good bye Nokia, Samsung, here I come.

lou, 30 May 2011it was defnitely over hyped but its usability far surpasses... moreNokia doesn't use resistive technology any more. If you haven't noticed, the N8 has a capacitive touchscreen, and so does the C7, E7 and C6-01.

perfect idea, why pay for two mobile plans, and carry two similar set off specs except for the screen when you can have this, what are the chances you would use your smartphone and tablet at the same time, this makes much more sense, no double sync, no double anything. imagine instead of buying a next generation tablet and phone, you just buy the phone and use the same tablet with the new more powerful phone. I'll definitely wait for this one to come out.

The only bad thing about this, is that it doesnt run MeeGo, with display drivers... then it would be able to scale as a normal computer does, with different resolutions.

Or, there is another bad thing, I want a tablet with stylus... like the one with flyer... but a better OS, that can fully use it. But that is just me.
Imagine runnin some kind of image manipulation software, with support for the stylus. Or a note-taking application, with handwrite recognition (feature, easily activated/inactivated in the on the same sheet).

I really like this. No tethering fees to use phone connection for the tablet. No need to synch both devices as the phone is the master device. If the tablet has big battery and high quality screen then it is a winner.

Like I said, Android is crap and it's the Windows Vista of smartphone OSes. It needs powerful hardware to run great just like Vista. lol

IMHO this is a good idea. I currently own a phone & a tablet. However getting both devices to be installed with the same apps and syncing of my emails and messages is a chore. The Padphone will work just nice.

The tablet accessory basically means you can have all the advantages of a mobile phone handset *and* a full-sized tablet without having to pay full price for a tablet. Think about it: the phone already has the wireless modems, WiFi, Bluetooth, camera, storage, processing hardware ... everything except a giant screen. The accessory can therefore be simply a touchscreen and battery, with all the work being done by the phone.

Great idea! I'm gonna buy something like that, but only when the phone will be placed just below the keyboard, to be used as touchpad, and it will be powerful enough (8-16 cores) to run full scale OS.

I can't imagine the market this is aimed at. Who needs a tablet or a smart phone that couldn't afford both, and how much would you really save in terms of cost, space or otherwise?

its a good idea if the tablet its included in the accessories like the charger and usb cable by that i mean like free!
