Totally Agreed! LG really needs to research about the actual brand perception value people have of LG brand and accordingly decide their strategy. No longer are the days, when you can win over consumers with an actually great product. Now, it's all about having a BRAND NAME. People buy Apple, Samsung and can sell them at a good value because people believe in those brands.

The price is definitely lower than the Note8, which is a good thing. But remember the Note8 is has 6 GB RAM, but the V30 doesn't have a version with 6GB RAM. Considering that even the V10 came with 4GB RAM, I think it's time for a upgrade (especially with 8GB RAM smartphones already out for a while).

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2017And there is the issue right there. You are being a blind f... moreI used a G3 before and yes the bootloop thing was annoying, it turns out was the defective battery in my case, after I swapped a new battery the issues was gone. Since V30 is going to use the Qnovo charging technology (which I can confirm that it is working as advertised on my Xperia), though I am not sure if it is directly related to the issue, I wish this can eliminate/reduce the problem.

In terms of innovation, I think V10 did it the most as in putting a secondary screen on the phone, combined it with the DAC and ruggedness, it was a package that wasn't in the market at the time. V20 and V30 are follow-up of that so they are less innovative I would say. However, I still say that V30 is overall more appealing to me (than Note 8) in the following ways:

              1) Love the ultra wide dual camera setup, it just make sense to me having a wide angle landscape lens with me all the time, this one truly is an ultra wide lens to make the captured scene look stunning. Apple's portrait mode (and perhaps the Note 8 as well) is impressive but if I really want the portrait mode effect, I can install apps that do it as post processing, it is a bit of a hassle I know, but wide angle lens simply cannot be replaced by apps. Regarding to the aperture, honestly, even if F/1.6 is real, it doesn't really make that much of a difference in real life vs. F/1.7, so even if LG is lying about it, I don't really care that much. Oh, it also has full manual control of exposure (for both video and photo), which is really important if you are serious about taking pictures.

              2) The DAC feature might not be the on the top of my list for buying a phone, but in some markets, LG is selling the phone with B&O headset included in the package, now that's some added value that appeals to me (and to many people). Who would say no to better sounds on your phone?

              3) While I can't prove the MIL-STD-810G certification is working or not, it is still official. I believe there is at least some truth to the advertised ruggedness of the phone, this is another thing that is good to have and it adds to the overall appeal of the phone. Having said that, I will still buy a case for it.

              4) This is a big one for me, V30 is now water proofed which wasn't the case for V20. It puts some people off but for me it makes the phone that much more versatile. Without worrying of it getting wet, I can take photos/use my phone in almost any situation. This is a feature that has been around for a while for Samsung and Sony, and is one that it can't omit to compete. Without it, it's almost a deal breaker for me.

              5) Comparing it with Note 8 and iPhone 7 Plus, it is the smallest and lightest device, also the cheapest to buy off contract (if the report of the price $749.99 is true).

              6) Fingerprint sensor is in it's perfect location (for me at least), it might be a small one, but then you are using your phone everyday and very likely using the sensor a dozen of times a day, if not hundreds of times. Having an awkward fingerprint sensor location like on the Note 8 is simply unfathomable for me.

I wouldn't say any phone is the "best" to buy, it really depends on the person. Everyone in the whole world won't all go out and buy a V30 tomorrow, but it is definitely an unique proposition that appeals to me and potentially a lot of other customers. We don't have to shut it down as a good option on the market.

I think that no one phone worth more than 500 USD. Even the best of them. There are much much much better ways to spend hard earned money. In today's reality one can buy very good phone for 400 or even less and find much better way to use the rest of money.

Dilmeet, 02 Sep 2017The best phone out there but the comment section is hilario... moreAnd there is the issue right there. You are being a blind fanoby. Best phone out there? There is nothing on it best except possibly DAC. But just like Cpu cores and other specs. Just because it says quad on paper doesn't mean it produces all sounds better compared to a single hiqh quality DAC. Or it could lack in amp. We shall find out soon.

Yet you so easily claim it's the best and that any comment that points out factual issues with it is just hate comments. And very illogical too.
"Samsung Note8 for $1000 over this is good?"
Nobody said it's good. But at least it offers a lot more in comparison in technology and comes with more expensive included items and freebies. As well as has many good sales and promotions going on in markets that make it actually a lot cheaper. As little as $306 to be precise.
"Bootloop comment is like saying Note8 too will burn like 7"
The first was understandable at least to someone who didn't understand the tech and the marketing lies like you. But this is just silly and reaching. One...the bootloop.... Has been an ongoing known problem from LG for the past few years that we still can't say for sure has been taken care of.
-The next...combustion... Was a one or technically two in one mishap that was not happening prior and is sure to not happen again because they took a lot of time, money, and precaution into ensuring future safety.
-As well as as opposed to LG being uncooperative with customers that suffer from bootloop and issues like image retention Samsung made a world wide recall with many offerings to compensate.
To the point that they are still offering up to a $425 trade in offer to Note7 users no for their Note8.
-And best of all. The second and final recall on the Note7 was because of a manufacturing defect on LG's part. Yeah. LG messed up and caused the Note7 to explode again.
So how is that supposed to defend LG dear fanboy?
"Sony is playing safe this year"
You will just make up anything at will to make up points. Actually this year has marked a comeback for Sony that they might start taking the mobile biz a little more serious. 4K HDR. Don't see Samsung or LG doing that. Completely unique still ram stacked camera with unrivaled slow motion. 3D imaging. Finally increasing the power of their speakers. Finally increasing pixel size as opposed to lg reducing it. Embracing and being the first among newer higher end SoC and Android versions. Things that differ from them a couple years ago.
                      "Note8 doesn't seem that innovative"
As opposed to what? LG lying and using super false hyped up marketing? Everything might not be brand new as far as a feature in the Note8. But the same is true just about everything else on the market too. And far more true for the V30. Bezeless? Already there. Quad DAC? Already there. Low budget camera? Many $200 phones have it....Oh but I guess most $750 phones don't. I guess that's innovative even compared to Apple marketing. Oled? Do I even have to? S835? Talk about being last to the race.
At least the Note offers most of the highest available tech out in an overall factually superior package.
"so the phone with f1.6, dual cam, dac, multimedia creation package, oled, SD835, ml and Ip certification etc from a respectable brand is not worth excitement?"
-1. For starters forget the F1.6 and it's possible lies. How about the tiny 1/3.1 image sensor that is not only smaller than any other flagship now, but even flagships from the past few years. And not only that but is not only smaller than most $300-$500 phones, but more than most mid range and even lower end phones use. I feel like the G4 probably performs better. It is an utter smack in the face for the $750 price bracket. And disgrace to flagships and LG fans. And relies on severely heavy post processing. And a bright lens. Comparing the supposed F1.6 and 13mp with heavier sharpening of LG to The F1.7 and 12mp of S7, 8, and Note8 shows less details.
-2.A. So far EXIF data is showing they could have lied and it's F1.69. And the other is closer to F2.0. Now this could be a few things. It could misreading. It could mean they lied and it's F1.69, it could mean they lied and it's F1.7. So now not only is it possible that they used an even smaller sensor than G6 which is terribly low end with heavy processing, but now their F1.6 could be marketing gimmicks. And even it is F1.6. What good does it do you on a 1/3.1 sensor with 1um pixels as a flagship grade main sensor with only 13mp resolution?
-2.B. And yes they could be easily lying. They have done so very easily in the past. Like the G4 for instance. G4 was a great case. They claimed an increase of brightness of 25%. It was a nearly identical brightness. As well as a few other claims to follow with the display that were marketing hype. And tried to advertise that the S808 performed tasked better and was more efficient to the Exynos 7420 when almost every test and comparison clearly showed how outlandish and foolish such claims were in the end.
                      3. Dual cam...So? In your logic....What's so new? And again. Possibly fake aperture and weak budget level sensor? What is there to be proud of in that? Their own flagship from 2 years ago seems more promising with 16mp 1.12um and F1.8.
-4. DAC. Since you meant quad DAC since just about any phone has a DAC...I'll give you that one. It seems exciting. I won't say it's the best until I compare it to a Wolfson DAC though. But seems promising and should easily beat most if not all.
-5. Multimedia creation? Again.....sub par camera and it's not like features and filters are something new.
-6. Oled? Do I even have to mention Samsung here????? I mean by your nothing innovative logic. However again like the quad DAC. Yes it's about time LG went Oled and it seems to be a beautiful screen.
-7. S835? You mean like other Oled and S835 devices with bigger camera sensors for hundreds less? And them being the last to the game with S835? But yes. Great cpu. Nice to see LG here finally.
-8. MIL with a glass back? What fool actually believes that? =D =D =D LMAO!
-9. No. It looks like it on paper and all. But when you take into account the lies, drawbacks, high price point, and lacking compared to others. and being late to the game you realize not so much. Especially to blind ones like you.
"Biased we all are and unwilling to accept anything that doesn't have a label of Aplle or Samsung or Sony on it seriously."
Nooo....Pretty much everything I have stated above shows you are the one being excessively bias.
"V30 is better but yeah Note8 is the king no matter what right?"
False because the Note8 is objectively superior in most aspects. From display and screen to body ratio. Down to cameras and overall design finish. It just simply is better and lacks a lot less. You flipped the reality of the statement there. You are the one refusing to see it. Not others.
"Let's forget innovation and focus on products from two top tier brands only. Peace"
What innovation????????? What does the V30 offer over the Note8 or others except and already used Quad DAC?

None of this is hate. It's just simple facts and calling you out. More people should simply try to be objective. I have many complaints about G6, V30, S8, Note8, Xzp, XZ1,XZC, U11, Pixel, and anyone who doesn't find a fault in apple is just naive or in denial or both.

After adding taxes it will probably cost more than S8+ in India. Never liked the S8's design much due to curved screen but I am liking V30 a lot even though it looks just like S8.
Just two small gripe is that it doesn't have stereo speaker & removable battery, still waiting for it to launch here and the price to drop to almost half in 7 months time. Hopefully my Xperia SP will last that long. ^_^
