This thing suspiciously looks like the ZUK Edge, minus that weird aspect ratio that nobody cares about.

This is a photoshop. Take a look at the "Huawei" letterings and see how it's being squished.

I really don't think that this leak is real. To me, it just looks wayy too much like the Mate 9, plus the 'Huawei' logo on the bottom is oddly squished together. Imo it's just a photoshopped Mate 9...

I think that 4000mAh on 6.3 inch QHD IPS is still not enough. But still, it all depends on optimization, coz LG G6 with 3300mAh and 5.7 inch QHD IPS had pretty good battery life for IPS display.

Bomj, 07 Sep 2017Why is this a bad thing? Big phones are all the rage, and n... moreThink about it this way, a 6.0 inch 16:9 panel gives a surface area of 5.22 x 2.94 = 15.35 inch squared display area. But a 6.0 inch 18.5:9 panel gives a surface area of 5.39 x 2.62 = 14.12 inch squared display area (I hope my math is correct).

So less content fills the display (which is not so bad when browsing Websites optimized for phones, but for editing documents or even browsing certain websites will be more painful).

Of course, this is just my opinion. I have not used any tall aspect ratio phones, only handled S8 and S8+ in showrooms. Tall aspect ratio is not a deal-breaker for most, but including the surface area information will help a lot of people, I think.

Ironically these extra sizes screens makes phones look uglier compared to phones from last year in my opinion. They should either make the things with a screen from side to side without interruptions, or have them as they used to be with a screen in the middle. I know my current phone won't be changed until then.

SZTadir, 07 Sep 2017This is one of those 18.5:9 aspect ratio panels, aren't it?... moreWhy is this a bad thing? Big phones are all the rage, and narrower, but taller, display makes it easier to hold even with smaller hands. So even if displays are eventually the same diagonal it gives one an option to still enjoy a larger phone, rather than being limited by smaller models. Just MHO.

                              UGH !
I hope the (regular) Mate 10 version has 16:9.

When will this tall-skinny fad END ?!

This design is superb for use in emergency cases where one needs to take a thick dump outdoors. The device is switched on and placed on the floor then crouch ontop, a good timing between the start logo and the touch down needs to be made.

How are they damaging the market? It's like saying Mercedes or BMW damaging the vehicle market. Vote with your money. Just don't buy what you don't want. The market is over saturated, mobile as much as vehicle, and there's a model for every taste and budget.

i think we reach a limit with these displays...6.3" on note 8 is too long and very hard to use the upper portion, this one is too wide.
I think the limit, even with these almost bezel-less smartphone, should be 6"

It would be really awkward for any of the two to have a fingerprint sensor below the display. Think about it, they wouldn't put it on the Pro like last year and give the small bezels to the regular one because who is gonna buy the Pro then ?? And, if the put it on the regular and not the Pro, it feels so wrong because they're basically reversing last year's design difference.
I think both will have it on the back, regular one will have yet another smaller than average bezels (always have been on regular Mate models) around a 5.9-6.1" 1080p display with a slight chance of a 1440p upgrade. The pro will have the highend 6.0-6.3" 1440p 18.5:9 to keep the width of the 5.5" Mate 9 Pro.
