Anonymous, 13 Sep 2017motorola better quality than HTC & LG, is android one h... moreAndroid one is nothing but a set of specified by Google for a good Android experience. Before Xiaomi manufacturers were trying to do that in lower price range only but failed because google themselves didn't realised that people want a good spec phone to and price became higher because of there demanded royalty. Now they see Xiaomi providing better specs so they are trying again turnaround things. Pixel on the other hand is quit similar but with more personalisation by Google and support (and also more profits for them).
My point is that all brands do say they are different but the fact they use same hardware along with different personalisation and support which in the end makes the difference and in pricing.

Anonymous, 13 Sep 2017motorola better quality than HTC & LG, is android one h... moreon lenovo quality i agree with you and comparison between galaxy or note series is irrelevant as Lenovo doesn't have phones at that price point. Below $400 mark lenovo gives better hardware but poor software support. Moto also gives good quality Hardware and better software optimised phones.Even LG & Htc are not that great in that price bracket.

agree lenovo quality on par with galaxy note 8 in quality, of course not in speed and note8 carry many sensors, but battery is life longer than old previous notes I used, lenovo out of the box there is screen protector and back cover. lenovo is good value

People comments shows distrust on the part of Lenovo but the fact is that lenovo does manufactur good devices like phab series, Vibe series. But problem is their attitude or ideology towards customers. They basically believe in churning out numbers not customer experience, maximise profit but fail in doing so. Motorola was better before and is still better than many other out there. I owned vibe X3 and it was best mid ranger with good specs but marred by non existent support by lenovo. And this is reason why lenovo sucks because there product isn't bad but support is literally shit. However this hasn't majorly not effected Moto and i hope it remains so.

I think it is a good idea the release of Moto X4 in Android One version and finaly the existance of these variants.
The consumers are free to choose whatever likes to them.
It is the same phone but the software updates will be donate directly from Google.
Personally i would like this to come with a few Moto pre installed applications because these Moto Actions are a tool for the consumer and they don't occupate Ram and Rom.
From my point of view...it shoud be necessary a variant with display 5,5 or +...with base Ram 4 gb( and that because the device status would be more vital for the new updates to come) and absolutely with battery more than 3000. Also with more sensors and BDS-gps..!!
As for the design...the present is pretty good..!!! But this is objectively from person to person.
I think we can be more in openmind mode to recept the idea of Android One generally.
The only thing to check out is the price ratio, from the simple OEM variant to the Androids One.
Finally, is the crowd that will decide what is more usefull and attractive to them.

I trust MOTOROLA than this iphone clones came from china or those heavy bloated skinned android, I don't care about those security patches as long as I have the latest O.S as usually get from my moto phones and they are the fastest to roll out O.S update that's no brainer.

That's good news but I suppose the fingerprint sensor will not work with gestures since it's a Moto app function, a shame since I love how new Moto phones can disable the navigation buttons

Before Lenovo, I would trust Motorola. After Lenovo, I rather get the Xiaomi. Believe it or not, Xiaomi is still pushing security updates to their old budget phones.
Lenovo? They are even abandoning many of their mid-range devices (eg. the Phab phones) after release.

Timely update? This become confusing
Mi A1's update is handled by Xiaomi. They claimed because of it's still using Mi camera app, Xiaomi has to ascertain the compatibility before releasing the update (Source : https://www.androidcentral.com/xiaomi-mi-a1)
Now, X4, as mentioned in the article, is almost stock. So, who will handle the update? Moto because Google camera isn't capable of dual camera yet but it might be still faster than Lenovo because they can just shove most of the OS to Google and just concentrate on the camera.

Merwyn Fernandes, 10 Sep 2017Don't think there is anything wrong with Lenovo phones they... moreYes, I know Lenovo can make a great product.
If you want any example of this just see their fantastic ThinkPad laptops, or Yoga 920, or Miix 520. I actually bought a Lenovo laptop just several weeks ago.
However, when it comes to phones Lenovo has plain just been embarrassing.
I mean people expected them to compete squarely with the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony, and HTC... but that has never come to fruition. The hardware has for the longest time been dull, the software very unfriendly, and the support non-exisistent.
I say this from having bought three Motorola phones back when Motorola were horrendous. After they were bought by Google, the products did change. I noticed much purposeful hardware designs coming from Googorola, very good software, and support that was class leading. And then, they were sold. The first batch of Motorola devices that came from that were still Google phones that were in the pipeline. And after that, there was a definite influence from Lenovo's mobile division. The software started getting more bloated, there were too many nonsensical variants, and support was thrown out the window.
So people should stop giving Motorola a pass for missteps, or criticise Xiaomi just because "they're Chinese". News flash, they're both for-profit companies and both manufacture phones in China. Do what I do, take the Scientific Approach and judge a device on its merits rather than its Badge.
Motorola getting an AndroidOne device really isn't anything special.
However, a company like Xiaomi is.
We could possibly see AndroidOne devices from the likes of Meizu, Oppo, and Huawei and that would be interesting as I believe these companies can churn out good products but are often relegated to the 2nd-3rd World markets.
