TouchID 2, 3D Touch, completely new camera and design. The only thing that stayed the same was the design. The iPhone 7 was a solid upgrade to the 6s. The 8 is a good-enough upgrade to the 7, but not as big as iPhone 7 to 6s was.

      Unless you use portrait mode or an AR app.

      My iPhone 7 Plus gets warm *real* quick when I make extended use of portrait mode or I use an app which uses ARKit.

      Maybe you should take a gander at https://www.dxomark.com and see how they rate the iPhone 8/8 Plus (and I'm pretty sure the iPhone X will eclipse them).

      And lest you be tempted into the "Apple bought 'em off" camp, last year they rated the Pixel as the #1 camera.

        All in all,my point is:if someone has an iphone 7 there is so little incentives to upgrade,unless you've got really good "swap" deal like in the US.I do not live there,and glass back is a huge no no in my book :)

          A lot of people again commenting on 'lack of innovation' & 'same design' BS that always gets spouted on iPhone stories.

          I didn't expect there to be much of a difference with this years two models, except for them to called 7s & 7s+ but I'm guessing the wireless charging was enough to warrant a change.

          The iPhone X is highly priced but that's what you pay for anniversary editions of something.

          All in all, I have the 7+ & am I going to upgrade to either 8+ or X? I will see what my EE Max plan upgrade offers before I decide but if I do it will be for the 8+ I think.

              You managed to miss word 'back' after emphasizing 'and'... twice!
              the new phones come with a glass front and with a series 7000 aluminum frame in between.

              There was the same text in another article in previous news (or maybe it was the same piece of text copied over).

                    BTW, the iPhone 8 does also bring improved rear camera and Portrait Lighting and plus the six-core A11 Bionic is a huge update.

                      Cannnot see the "more" upgrades except Qi charging and 4k videos on 60fps.
                      On the other hand iphone 7 over 6s bring:
                      -OIS(the most ever wanted upgrade)
                      -waterproofing
                      -stereo speakers
                      -better selfie cam
                      So.....

                        Hmm, first things first, so have they abandoned the "S" tradition?! And in that case, will the iPhone of 2019 be called the iPhone 10 (again)?

                        Ok, anyway the 8 does bring more upgrades to the 7, than the 6S did to the 6. The glass back is good especially since Apple claim it's very strong, and it also gives it a Galaxy S6-era look.

                        I'm sure A11 is going to slay the competition as usual. The new Apple designed GPU is going to be interesting. The 3D Touch experiment has rightly failed, and is on it's last legs.

                        4K@60fps and 1080p@240fps video recording is superb as is Potrait Lighting if it works as advertised. The lack of the 3.5 mm headphone jack is still a major drawback, though.

                              Don't buy iPhone 8/8 Plus. Stick with your iPhone 7/7 Plus or go all out with the X

                              Though I still don't recommend iPhone X either because next year's iPhone 8s/9 would have both Touch ID under the display and (probably improved) Face ID, and might be priced around $800 (that's still cheaper than $1000 iPhone X though)

                                  1080p 240fps is also a great improvement, we had been stuck at slowmo 720p in these few years, and this is 1080p video, which everyone can afford to buy the tv/monitor for it, there are lots of 1080p cheap tv right now.

                                      Part of their life's :) do you know how much video will take space in 4k60? I can't imagine you going to make a lot of video with 64 gb phone :) 256 it looks like only option for now, it is a good feature don't get me wrong, but most people will not be able to use it cause in undervldeveloped countries not many people can afford 4k tvs :)

                                        Well well .. Apple didn't really sell the 7 at all & huge failed , now same as 6 or 7 but let's call it 8 massive disappointment for iPhone lovers because wanted to se the 8 same iPhone stupid £1k the X model design .. I think apple don't really bother past 4 years anymore to change something new like Samsung brings S8 full change .. I have 6s & I think the best iPhone ever built at cheap prices £34 PM 10GB internet on O2 my contact had finished & I won't renew to silly 7 or 8 waist of money ,for what supporting Apple making them trillions
