The only upgrade is wireless charging and all the other reasons are just pure bullshit because they are not visible changes which make the experience with the phone better

Bob, 13 Sep 2017It says "Ion-strengthened glass" - do you really need that ... moreMaybe there are some who will upgrade each & every year ( I do know there is a feature that Apple run that allows you to do just that
Hopefully those on contract will upgrade every two years when their contract expires
Here are the. 3 new phones http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone2=8131&idPhone1=8573&idPhone3=8858
All the other players seem to be releasing a phone to coincide with the Apple launch, as you can see price has deterred many.
The point is Apple charges more for old tech, I was using super amoled screen in 2011with my Galaxy SII ( albeit not curved)
The iPhone X seems really overpriced albeit bezel less
The iPhone X is 5.8 inches, 0.3 inches the 5 5 inch iPhone 8+
0.3 inches on the diagonal 7.62 mm
The overall size means that is smaller than the iPhone X but to increase it by a quarter for essentially the same phone well.
Apple will score high on benchmarks but I see little to justify the price but there will n a queues outside Apple stores

The two reasons: Design and Storage as upgrade are stupid.
Changing from aluminium to glass is just different material. Aluminium is more malleable and tends to bend and dent, while glass is more brittle and tends to crack. Other than for the reason of wireless charging, changing to glass is just different, not an upgrade.
As for storage being doubled in 8, so it the price of 64GB 8 higher than 32GB 7. If you want more storage in 7, you can always get the 128GB or 256GB. So storage is not considered an upgrade.

we are te stupid ones if we buy it.....the pass over of march release of version 7s an they do not respect the cicles and above all they make us pay more....for an iphone 8 that should by now have 5 months old and be more cheaper and the X at the usual 699dollars...lets say the true that they got greeady and evoiding taxes in europe. The price is also due to the cost of moving the foxcom to the us after paying low salaries to the chinease people. They shoud be ashamed by their becoming. On the time of steve jobs i was very proud off apple!

I am really disappointed by the iPhone X :(. Face detection and swipe to unlock? It's basically the main features I struggled with in Samsung a few years ago when they introduced it (although it actually worked) and Windows mobile with the swipe up respectively. Why doesn't it go straight to the home screen once it detects the face? Also, no home button is a pain (not even taking advantage of force touch as an alternative) :S... It all seems like they are testing the market while also making iPhone 8 seem like the inferior/cheaper class from now on. It's clear that hardcore fans will buy the X, but for the first time ever I believe the price is a deal-breaker.

glass back - another thing to break
storage - and you pay for it
wireless charging - a bigger battery would have taken too much courage
fast charging - replace your tiny overworked battery every 6 months
screen - still lcd
camera - nothing groundbreaking. 4k60fps = huge file sizes
A11 - A10 is fast enough

Guys, I owned the Iphone 6 after years of Samsung solid user and would say it was a magic moment when I held it. Everything about the design is just superb. However, it is time to move on to a new design. The 7 and 8 are just the same design with some antenna replacement and other cores. But design wise remained unchanged. And now!!! the big surprise, 8 is same as 7/7S and 6/6S. Next year you will get the 8S most likely.
If the 8 would have had bigger screen, say 5.8 or 6" to match the rivals, then it would be really worth to upgrade from 7 to 8, but still in the 5.5 arena! Who really cares if the IOS is 10 or 11 if the phone is primarily used for calling, whatsapping and social media. The cameras on all phones are so good. Adding some features won't break the ice to convince users to spend another $ 1000 or more in Euro's for EU users. Not to mention that the battery on Iphone range still major issue.

Upgrading from the 7x? That's dumb. Wait next year, but even then you can keep your iPhone 3 years. No need for the A11 SoC, the A10 is plenty powerful for years to come. But I still find the OS too restrictive

So this is the new old iPhone aka iPhone 8? iPhone 8 is a joke. One can not look on the iPhone 8 and tell the difference from the 7 and basically the 6. Secondly, it is now able to charge wirelessly but no wireless charger. I guess Apple is looking towards the android community for help in that department too like they have been in the features and styles area all these years. This is iPhone-joke

It says "Ion-strengthened glass" - do you really need that $1000+ strong if you upgrade your Iphone every year? My $500 android phone has lasted me for 3 years. I don't see the point to replace it while it is still meeting my needs.

zodiacfml, 13 Sep 2017There is only one reason not to. Next year's iPhones will h... more I'm glad you made your point here. One wonders if Apple will continue to curb their old school styled top and bottom bezels on one of it's 2018 models, or each model. Hopefully, it's lower priced models with get nip/tuck body treatments next year too. As much seems probable. Wish list wise, they would do well to facilitate hi res audio in some capacity.

It's crazy to buy phone for $1000 +tax... iPhone e"X"pensive is nice but is it really worth that money?
People think! It's just a phone and next year or max after 2 years you will want different one anyway.

I think the iPhone 6S Plus is now the best model.
It has a good battery life, very fast, decent cameras and screen. Its now much cheaper than launch. And it will get supported much longer than the poor iPhone 6.
It even has an aux/3.5mm headset port.
The only thing it can't match to Android flagships today is the waterproofing... but I'm not sure that feature alone is worth increasing the phone's price 80% and removing the headset port.
Sure, the speakers suck... but then again, so does the speakers on all flagship phones, bar the ZTE Axon 7.

So sad how low specifications they bring for such money. If you want iOS and can afford iPhone X... if not Android has better options for that price. I tested too an iPhone 7 while tried to install some apps and port databases. etc and was a complete hell do that and all could not be done due to how narrow, impersonalisable and closed is the system. Even installing special apps to do the job. And then how the app designers on purpose change the compatibility between versions of swift and even between versions of the older Objective-C forcing you to pay several times for the same product or updates. I prefer by Eons the compatibility in Android.
