You wouldn't charge the new iPhone, which would be freed of the obsolete battery, after it has already been freed of the headphone jack. You would charge the Apple power pack with its amazing 1000 mAh, going for tiny $99, and you would charge it over night because it wouldn't have fast charge. The Apple power pack with fast charge would come one year later, but with only 600 mAh instead of 1000 mAh, for the same very low price of $99.

L0lip0p, 15 Sep 2017Questions, why apple doesn't just go with 7s instead of 8Because an 8 sounds like a bigger difference than a 7s. And the s has a bad reputation as being unchanged from the predecessor, even though they always were the bigger upgrades internally

It was because before the presentation, it wanted to scan several faces of people preparing the keynote. Just like TouchID, after a few failed tries, it requires your passcode.

This is sad, but my final judge will be made with the GSMArena battery life rating

So when OEMs are reducing their phones' battery size, they are actually following a trend set by Apple.
Without Apple, such move would get heavy backlash from reviewers & critics, but now they can point at Apple doing the same thing just fine, even calling it innovative or a smart move.

"We have winner products and the consumers are the losers."

Enjoy your delusion for half day till the battery lasts. Even if ram and ROM don't mean a thing, a phone with bigger battery will almost certainly have better battery life than one with smaller battery if all testing conditions are same. Battery is the only thing where bigger= better will always hold true. Else why does ip7+ have better battery than ip7?

Whoa, first there is Fail ID, now this... the already tiny Apple batteries still got smaller XD
In exchange for smaller batteries, the price got bigger. As expected from greedy Apple XD

                        Don't miss next year's keynote:
"With the iPhone 7, we took a very courageous step and removed a very antiquated element, the headphone jack. This, however, was just a foretaste of things still to come. This year, we are much more courageous still, and so we removed another element which was nothing but an immense space waster - the battery!
The first battery was invented in 1800 by the Italian physicist Alessandro Volta...
                        *shows historic photos*
Since then, batteries have remained largely unchanged. As you can see, batteries have been around much longer already than the antique headphone jack, so it was high noon that we removed them now.
Thanks to the removal of this vastly outdated component, the new iPhone is now just an amazing 7mm thick, a new record!
At home, you don't need a battery, you can simply connect it to the AC mains.
On the go, you can make use of our new, amazing power packs. Our standard power pack packs an amazing 1000 mAh for the very low price of just $99! Should you need more, you can use our Plus power pack, with even more amazing 2000 mAh, for still very low $249.
For those amazing power packs, we've done away with that useless fast charging, which no one needs, anyway. You can charge them over night, while you sleep. I just hope you sleep a full 8 hours, or the charging of the Plus one might not be quite complete. It's an amazing 2000 mAh pack, after all, so charging it takes a while."

I can totally see that coming.

IT'S NOT WIRELESS CHARGING... it is conductive charging...
...and the new AirPower pad will be another $99... they should give those out for free.
When you lose the wire altogether, then it becomes wireless (such a wireless data).
As for the phones, they are less impressive then ever.

Every year the chipset of these android and apple phones use less power, but do the GREEDY companies like SONY, SAMSUNG and APPLE allow the battery gains by the chipset to be passed to consumers, NO. Instead the GREEDY companies take those gains for themselves.

If the A10 processor or the SD821 was giving you a solid 24 hours, then why the "insert swear word" can the consumer not benefit from the extra hours from the A11 or the SD835. These "insert swear word" companies deliberately reduce the battery size so that we sheep and consumers can always get the same 24 hour battery life, because it saves them a few pennies.

Every year that is what they do, then they tell you you can get through a day on a full charge. We need more than a "insert swear word" day.

"insert swear word" all of them.
