A CPU relying on the xISC (CISC and RISC, in our case a RISC chip)
Stracture needs a place to store the commands it will execute. The larger the L2 Cache the more commands it can store.
Like a box: the larger it is; the more things you can place in it.
And for the nerds: yes. I know it’s not 100% accurate but for one that is not THAT techie in understanding CPU stuff. I tried to simplify it.
In reality. It’s more like a gas tank. You’ve got a tank containing a bunch of commands and the CEU (commands Executing Unit inside the CPU constantly takes commands from that Cache.

but when it comes to iphone vs android, "Benchmark doesnt matter, what matter is real life usage" lol..

Apple innovating again with 2011 technology. Gongratz by the high score BTW

The thing that people don't take into account here is firstly even though I personally don't use apple devices and probably never will, they make good soc's and secondly and here comes the important bit, their software(ios) is so much more optimised and designed to run specifically for that piece of hardware. That geekbench test was run on ios, until you stick a snapdragon processor or exynos processor in an iPhone and vice versa in android you really can't truly compare the 2 completely.

Who cares?! If I touch my phone's screen and it responds instantaneously and apps/games run buttery smooth on it, which is the case on every current Android flagship I tried, I don't give a toss about benchmark tests. Current Android flagships' processing power far exceeds the needs of available apps/games. When there are more complex apps/games that need more power in the future, chances are you'll have upgraded to the latest phones as well, which most people do every 2 years or so. So benchmarks are USELESS, except for giving Apple an excuse to charge the exorbitant prices of their ludicrously overpriced phones that are just now getting what Androids flagships had for years!

I also digged into the specs of te A11 and SD835 and saw that the A11 has 8 mb L2 cache and the SD835 has 1 mb L2 cache. Probably thats why the A11 is so fast? I am not a CPU master. But even if the iPhone was the fastest phone on earth, I will always be a hardcore Android fan.

Watching it, will help you understand at what level your brain is:).

The iPhone X looks like the phone to beat this year. It looks great, it has good components, excellent ecosystem. If you don't like it for some bizarre reason, then don't get it.

I am waiting to see what the Pixel XL is going to be like, but will probably end up replacing my S7 Edge with the iPhone X and looking forward to it.

We're pretty much at the point where mobile device's performances are so high that getting any faster is pointless, which did happened on PCs a while ago. Performance was so adequate for the average user that upgrading was useless. PC sales saw a HUGE drop in the past 8 years, thanks to capable chips and Windows 7 (IMO the best OS ever, I prefer Aero more than that garbage Fluent Design). There's no practical use of that processing power. The E8895 is still a very powerful chip. If it wasn't of the lack of updates and the sealed batteries, not to mention cameras, no one would upgrade from a device with an A10/SD835 (82x to some extend) /E889x.
