Lex79, 23 Sep 2017There was always reason to doubt DXO mark test and scoring.... moreMuch less prior than now....as I state in my point nbr 5.
Samsung has the Displaymate "protocols" covered, Apple has Dxo "protocols" for marketing purposes now.

Tann Hauser, 23 Sep 20171. They just waited for iphone 8 release to introduce the "... moreThere was always reason to doubt DXO mark test and scoring. It was pretty much just you fanboys who swore by them....so long as your favourite brand was number one of course.
This ain't a dig before you get all uppity, I've been saying for a long time that DXO's conclusions are dubious at best. I've just seen to many examples of pro photographers and other review sites flat out disagree with them.
That said (and please understand I have no intention of getting the new iPhones, so don't accuse me of any bias) I can see how Apples vast R&D resources coupled with Sony's sensor tech could produce market leading results. People should actually kind of expect it considering the price being demanded for these things.
I just won't be going by DXO's sole opinion on whether those results are indeed market leading.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2017Better? LMAO The f1.6 is useless when it is used with ol... moreLMAO have you seen G6 camera results? Its at the same league as s8 despite having tiny mid range sensor and f1.8 aperture just wait for V30 retail unit review you will see its going to be better than G6 and far better than G5 and V20

Dx)Mark lost all respect from me after their high scores with the train wreck that is the One Plus 5. Now they're giving the new iPhones really high scores too even though their Bokeh is much worse than the Note 8. The software still blurs out a lot of things that should be on focus.

1. They just waited for iphone 8 release to introduce the "new protocol"
2. New protocol favours bokeh and zoom, two features onoy apple emphasizes in their camera setupel
3. New guy is testing mobipe cameras now.(wlamerican cough, cough)
4. In comments section some guy noticed downloaded full res example pictures have an adobe photoshop source exif data.
5. Protocol before was much more standardized between phone cameras, with same evidence based charts, examples and conclusions, now its....well, just look at amount of shown data on XZ Prem and iphone8 review. Iphone ne ne is about 5 times more detailedn and explained.
So...there are at least 4 reasons to seriously doubt all this dxo changes....

Rafe Firmani, 23 Sep 2017The breakdowns:
... moreYou know what, I'm a fan of large sensors & large photosites, I will gladly pick U11's sensor between the two. However, in order to win this new & skewed DxOMark testing protocols, I wish I could just tear out iPhone 8 Plus's tele cam and put it alongside U11's one.
New Zoom & Bokeh categories, huh... My foot.
Now, dare they test Note 8's dual cam that got both BIGGER sensor for main cam, and BRIGHTER aperture for tele cam.
On paper, Note 8 has clearly the better hardware over iP8+, let's see how their softwares battling it out.

Rafe Firmani, 23 Sep 2017The breakdowns: ... moreYeah, i always noticed iphone pictures have poor color reproduction no matter how much they improved their camera. I know an iphone picture just by looking at its color. The one with poor color always come from an iphone.

Rafe Firmani, 23 Sep 2017The breakdowns:
... moreMeh, if this is winning just by bokeh and zoom, I'd rather prefer other image metrics. This is not a standardized test as other dual cameras are setup differently without zoom lens hence feels this test shows heavy bias towards apple's dual camera strengths.

AnonD-521587, 23 Sep 2017its probably cuz of the zoom and bokeh. dXoMarks breakdowns:

After dxomark change their so called "test protocol" , in favor of Apple, it was clear that they sell their souls. Adding in score zoom and bokeh.

Lex79, 22 Sep 2017I personally don’t think Apple give a monkeys t0ss about DX... moreapple might not care but dxo DOES. because it means more clicks for them if they rank iphones on top how many people are going to click on them? which makes me believe the older protocol was much more accurate since apple had smaller sized sensor.

Not surprising since the new dxo protocol favor apple, i mean bokeh shot, zoom? Aren't it the feature that popularize by apple. And the that fact iphone 8 got the highest score for stabilization is utter joke
