Anonymous, 25 Sep 2017Maybe just maybe its actually too expensive for mere mortal... moreMost people in the market for an iPhone are able to get to the 999 pricepoint. It's only 200 more than the 8 Plus at the end of the day. The problem is the storage, 64gb on a phone that shoots 4k 60fps is just not enough. The memory upgrade is 150$, and 1,149 is where it becomes way way WAY too expensive. If Apple had the entry level with 128gb, it would sell a lot better

I confess, was one of those that buys 7 new iPhones reguardless of price. On my family plan I have 4 seniors. Do you know how hard it is to train them to use the iPhone? Retraining will be a nightmare. Not to mention I can just send them to Apple store when they have issues. There is just no Samsung store to send them to. And I just don’t have time to answer all the weird demands/questions they have.

I seriously hope Apple's latest iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X sell very bad.
Or at least bad compared to previous sales (maybe "only" a whopping 30 Million units).
Apple and Tim Cook need to be taught by consumers that there are consequences to over-pricing and bad products. Something like that would probably destroy the blind-faith investors put into the company, and cause a decrease in its stock value.
Hopefully, an event such as that translates into a proper revolutionary device for next year AND with decreased prices. Apple needs to keep their consumers happy before they try to entice investors into their portfolio.
Don't just try to sweep the issue with a massive marketing, because commercials do end, but what doesn't just disappear is a poor experience/designed product in the hands of people. That stuff sticks around for years, decades even.

Had to help 2 friends switch from their perfectly fine iPhones to android phones this weekend. Seems funny to me that they want to switch just because they don't like the company's new products, when their phone has been perfectly fine for the past year up until the announcement. It is just a communication device. If you identify yourself by the phones you use, I think some deep introspection is needed.

AnonD-234961, 25 Sep 2017Not sure about the author's logic, but by my basic logic th... moreAll it mean is that Apple do not pay now for stock that won't be sold for month
It could be an accounting strategy or simply storage and quality control, rushing to fulfill orders singularly or a combination
It could be the reason you stated as people opt for the iPhone 8 & 8+ as the X is too high a price for what is offered http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8064&idPhone2=8573&idPhone3=8858
As you can see bezel less offers very little but the price of the phone increases a lot
This does not mean total sales are down just that the X forms a smaller percentage

May be makeups on too many people faces would fool the face id unlock so the main selling point of the device is not going to entice enough buyers!

Not sure about the author's logic, but by my basic logic this means that Apple expects lower demand, that's why it lowers orders.

I personally think this is being done because the iPhone 8 and 8 plus aren’t bringing in the customers as they’d have expected. Guessing their plan is to lower the availability of the iPhone X, hoping the customers will be forced to go for the 8 instead, which will simultaneously bring more profits to apple( as they are cheaper to make with still premium price tag) and keep the exclusivity the iPhone X as they had initially planned.
