"It's Pretty Much The Same As Last Time™." And the last one before it also. And was the same for the last two/three generations before the last one. I can't see a change in their design language for ages. Sony is relegated to making phones just for their loyal fan base, which is on decline gradually, and not to expand its user base. Even Apple changed their design philosophy with the X, but not Sony, still stuck in prehistoric era of designs. XZ/XZs/XZ1/XZP all look same and apart from chipset and few minor differences there is nothing much to differentiate between them. Only saving grace here is that XZ1 is the lowest priced S835 powered phone from a reputable brand.

TheGoldMellifluousXZ, 25 Sep 2017Are you sure about your statement ? There's some very-loyal... moreyou think 3.4 million is high? Sony has been declining each year that passes... Sony hasn't been innovating at all. The last good one must have been the Z5 Premium with it's superb screen quality but it was fragile. You think sony are sturdy? LOL think again, go watch some comparisons on youtube.
And Sony devices always were a concearn about thermal dissipation. They always overheat. The sony XZ and XZ1 stil overheat.
Give me one valid reason why i should have gone with a Sony XZ1 instead of the oneplus 5. I'm curious.
MicroSD? come on, i got a 128GB variant
IP68? Might be a good reason yup
HDR display? HDR display on a LCD 1080p? One must really be desperate to sell their phones.
Stero speakers? Yup that's a plus point (a really good one actually)
Being sony device it doesn't even ship with Sony lens OIS. Christ...

"Techadviser.co.uk: Phones like the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 make this newer phone look dated and devices like the OnePlus 5 are better at a lower price point."

45,000 is too much. It is sure that at that price people buys at EMI and adding a little bit more one can afford S8/S8+ or even S8 Note which are complete package.

As for Sony devices, they have camera and screen as premium feature. Otherwise there is nothing new.

Sony is a joke, releasing every 6 month phones with almost same specs, as I remember same happened with Z3 Z3+, Z5 iterations, I mean what is the point? Just release one flagship per year and concentrate on midrangers, even probably most loyal fans they don't have a clue what is the differences between those xz all phones

Wow. This is cheaper than the UK price of GBP 599, which comes to INR 52650. And it's cheaper than most other mainstream flagships. I hope they bring in the XZ1 Compact at 10-15k less to India.

AnonD-696124, 25 Sep 2017Bezels!! The innovation now is having a bezelless smartphon... moreAre you sure about your statement ? There's some very-loyal customers of Sony who still like or even love Sony Xperia products whatever they're now , due maybe their under-hood innovations , solid and great build , consistency design , have their own identity , already fall-in-love with it , etc . They still buy it to be honest although not much as Galaxies or iPhones in just one single devices . 3.4 Millions units sold in Q2 2017 proves that . Bezel ? May look bad for you and bezel-less fanatic , but for functionality , it still proven better than bezel-less due you can hold it much better and use it better than less one , and can absorption much better when it's dropped / fallen , and made the construction of a body of a phone much sturdier , solid and strong . That's why Sony has been not following bezel-less designs for at least 2 years . Foldable phone ? Well , they could steal the start first , who knows ? If they're late , at least better than never .

AnonD-510275, 25 Sep 2017Grey markets? Is that supposed to be black markets? LOL #no... moreThere's also grey markets here tho bringing the Sony X Series here too in offline market and online shops . Just the black markets also bring the Sony Xperia X Series here are dominantly and big enough , altho they're registered to officials (such as Tokopedia , etc.) here in both off and on - line shops too . There's a lot stores who sells Xperia X Series and surprisingly , they sold quite big units for Xperia (40-100 units) , mostly Xperia XZ series (original , s , Premium) . LOL , didn't expected that tbh due the community of Xperia Indonesia were small but solid .

Bezels!! The innovation now is having a bezelless smartphone. Once foldable phones come out at that time sony will finally get rid of bezells but it will be too late.
How can people still like sony, they haven't change it's design since 2012. I still remember the old T2 and the bezells remained. I has been 5 intensive years and no change in design whatsoever.
