Anyone getting tired of hearing 'bezel-less' this and 'bezel-less' that? In the end you're still left with either a nasty looking cutout for sensors (iPhone X, Essential phone), fiddly/awkward ergonomics (faulty Palm Rejection on Samsung's Edge devices or S8 causing accidental touches on the screen sides) and the hassle of having to overhaul every 16:9 optimized video/website for the overambitious, gimmicky designs' sake.
There's little boost in practicality with perhaps the sole exception of a narrower phone making one handed typing a little easier (but with current phones passing the 65mm width mark, not to mention the growing obesity crisis - that Note8 weighs 195 grams - you're likely going to use that left hand anyway.). This bezel-less fad seems like it was only meant to draw consumers and cash in, showing us how cool and 'futuristic' these 'modern' smartphones look. Damn it Sony, I thought you weren't gonna jump on the goddamn bandwagon...

Not bad for Sony to made Bezel-Less phone imagine stylish design + that kind of 4k phone. and is upon the user if regarding to the life of the phone.

Bezelless design will be short lived just like curved plasma TV, its a trend that it's unlikely to last for very long and everyone will demand for ergonomics over aesthetics #bezelslivesmatter

The positioning of the camera, speakers, key buttons, the materials, are not the same. It's amazing you are claiming the designer of the design that everyone is using today as the copycat.
That laziest company has the most diverse designs so far.
Xperia Ericsson, Xperia NXT series (LED notibar), Xperia T/TX series (Arc-like), Xperia Z series, X-series (Brushed Back), XZ series (Alkaliedo), Premium series (Mirror) all have very unique and different designs. The only reason people feel Sony's design is repetitive today is because Sony launches 2 flagships per year.
Samsung had been stuck with ONE design for more than 100+ devices since 2009. Low-enders, midrangers, flagships, tablets shared that one design until Sony Z and HTC One hit the market that got Samsung to make a change, but for the worse with the band-aid S5 flop. Samsung then coincidentally (?) turned to waterproof glass design (just like Sony). And they don't name their products Galaxy Ace, Win, Star or anything like that anymore, but use English alphabets (just like Sony). Everyone then jumped on the reflective glass design wagon. Oppo has it. Vivo has it. Huawei has it. HTC has it. Asus has it.
iPhone has barely changed anything until it took the HTC design and everyone was copying that for a while as well. Totally the same story. But now the iPhone X design was obviously the XZ Premium.
Pretty sure some people prefer functionality and ergonomic over gimmicks like bezelless display (easier to break, unfitting image ratio, inconvenient for horizontal use). I am afraid though that originality can't beat marketing and Sony will jump the bandwagon to survive much like how HTC is no longer keeping its original design.

Sony's managing director for India, Kenichiro Hibi DOESN'T say any word related to bezel or bezel-less, he only say they will have new designs.

Nowadays the reader is very easily manipulated by any kind of the "writing skills" and the fans from the competitors is pleasant because the post pay attention to the bezelless trends and Samsung lead bezelless trends as they selling point.
I hate Samsung my reason, they trolling too much more than made a squarish phone.

people are following this bezeless trend far too blindly. I want sony to just reduce bezels and maintain the 16;9 aspect ratio I don't want no weird ratio that looks like a remote.
All sony had to do to not fuck up the sony xz1 was to not reduce the battery size. Even XZP could have a bigger battery life so pathetic on both ends.
Volume amp for headphones also needs to increase and get the VOLTE certification for Tmobile. Without these you're so far behind the competition. Bezeless wont mean anything you'l just be copying samsung and not being a leader like you used to.

finally you wake up Sony ... ah buts it too late .... most people have jumped from sony.
i still has the orginal xperia Z which was nice 4 and half years ago. i waited and waited for the replacement ultra Z as Sony was on to something... but as time went on no appearance of the large sony phone. so i jumped to samsung note 8. the only reason my your changing Sony is the market has changed.... where the innovation ... please fire all your staff in the mobile division and start over

Don't be foolish. You don't have to go bezeless.
Your phones are not selling because you use weak speakers, made smaller batteries, refuse to add OIS with EIS, won't better optimize the camera, and won't make devices available in more markets.
And while it sounds like a lot there it really isn't. With such little effort they could sell greatly.
Trim the bezels. Not get rid of them. At least not yet. In the meantime the issue is that devices like XZP just have way too much wasted bezel.
Have minimal bezel and fix the above and they could move way up.
