AT&T and T-Mobile merger gets a TV ad, seems inevitable

06 June, 2011
AT&T and T-Mobile merger still hasn’t been approved by the authorities, but that didn’t stop the companies from advertising it on TV. Obviously they are trying to tell their side of the story of...

I don't think this deal will help anyone out but At&t. Not to mention tmobile's LOSING customers like crazy. So they will be helping each other out. At&t need t-mobiles towers to help with those drop calls.T-mobiles plans are cheaper but they don't have the same smart phones like sprint,Verizon or at&t have. I mean they have some good ones but they are not all that. Tmobile is just know getting a smart phone with a 4.3 inch touch screen.
I'm just keeping it real we ALL know at&t will raise prices. They already want more money for data. I guess t-mobile's catching on already..today I received a msg stating I've gone over my reg data usage, and I should change my data pln. SUPRISE,SUPRISE,SUPRISE!!!

Rogers did NOT emerge from AT&T. Rogers "emerged" (if you will) from Cantel and has been around for many years. Rogers had a partnership with AT&T which was terminated a few short years later when Rogers bought back the portion of AT&T's investment in the partnership.

I am using At&T for at least over 20 years and never experience customers service problems. I have been most satisfy with them. I did use many years ago Verizon which was worst experience of my life. Very bad customer service and it took me two years stop my service since each time they would renew my service without my permission and no allow me to stop my service.

I never liked T-mobile since never offered a good selection of cell phones.

AnonD-10348, 07 Jun 2011It's pathetic how you people can bicker back and forth abou... moreIt has very well to do with a number of things that affect me as a T-Mobile customer directly. Here only 2:

                        1. My wallet
After the merger, AT&T will be more than interested in raising the prices on currently existing T-Mobile plans (either gradual or they simply won't renew the contract to the exact same price but upgrade to an equal AT&T tarif).

                        2 My freedom of choice
As a frequent world traveler, I always have unlocked GSM cell phones, so, that I can use my device in foreign countries with local SIM cards. In the US, I am using T-Mobile since they provide great prices + excellent customer care. Once they're gone, we will have only 1 major GSM provider: AT&T ...

And as you can imagine, the list could be continued with many more reasons.

Cave Johnson, 07 Jun 2011Let me tell you something about this merger. It's one of AT... moreActually maybe you noobs should actually read their proposal to the FCC before you guys commit? If the merger goes through ATT will acquire T Mobile's tower, which it will not have to build out towers any further. They will allocate Tmobile's 1700 AWS spectrum and use it to build out their LTE network using both 700Mhz and 1700Mhz. They will migrate T mobile onto their 850/1900 MHz spectrum. 850MHz is actually a hell of a lot better than 1700 as it has better building penetration. Since they acquired more towers they will not have to build new towers which can cost a lot due to certain cities and radiation health scare. They can then fit these towers using their radios which should be quick and easy and increase user allocation.

I am not excited about this merger. If this happens then I am going to have to find a new mobile provider. I agree with others on this matter that AT&T not only charges higher prices for less service, their customer service is horrible. And even if their customer service was good, I wouldn't want to pay the higher prices. If this happens I'm probably going to go with Verizon or maybe one of those Unlimited pay as you go carriers. Verizon is good their Cell Coverage and 4G coverage is great. But I don't like that Verizon, like Apple, have too much control over the equipment (phones), and charge for everything. When I was with Verizon it felt as though they charged me a fee for just turning my phone on and off. I hope this doesn't happen because it gives AT&T a clear monopoly over GSM mobile coverage in the states.
