HMD official confirms Nokia phones will get Oreo by the end of 2017

I do not doubt that this will happen for Nokia 8, Nokia 7, Nokia 6 and Nokia 5.
But for the Nokia 3 and Nokia 2, look, it's hard to believe!

There is no official statement from hmdglobal. re. oreo.
If they were truly committed they would have made one.
With out it how can they possibly be believed ?
They are just like all the other vendors, all talk, rumours and hearsay.

Nokia launch the global version after SOOO many months after announcing the device (6 especially), and THIS MOVE is a very well-planned strategy by Nokia to make it look like their new craps are "most wanted", "limited in supply", "always in demand", as well as buying time until the new Android version release to sold their craps with outdated hardware as well as outdated Android, so they could "cut corners" in Android upgrade proimise.
Here's the plan:
-) Announce their comeback in 2016 to make the hype of "King is back" = success
-) Release ONLY the 6 which is made of OUTDATED, LOW-END SoC and release it with 3GB RAM so they could sell it as "mid-range" phone = success
-) Sell the 6 in very limited area, and very limited supply, using Flash sale marketing plan, to makeother people think that their product is "the 'best mid-range Android u could get", and create the hype = success
-) Release the "inferior" version (5 & 3) much later, with EVEN SHITTIER hardware, to make it look like the choice of hardware in 6 justified the HIGH price tag = success
-) Hold several Flash sale with several months gap to keep the hype going on = success
-) Finished with the Flash sale marketing, hold out for few months with the excuse of "short supply vs. over demand", which in fact to buy time for Google to release Android O, so they could release their devices which have OUTDATED hardware, come with the Android N, so they could make ANDROID O AS A PART OF THEIR PROMISES OF 2 MAJOR ANDROID UPDATES = success
U people who ALWAYS brand critics as "Nokia haters" are DUMB. Can't even see that ALL this move made by HMD is actually a "sinister" strategy planned from the start.
DO U THINK A COMPANY WHO ABLE TO BUY NOKIA BACK DON'T ANTICIPATE OF THE HIGH DEMAND OF THE COME BACK OF NOKIA?
DO U THINK A COMPANY AS BIG AS HMD COULD NOT AFFORD TO MEET THE DEMAND IN CHINA ONLY?
DO U THINK PROFESSIONAL ANDROID DEVELOPERS HIRED BY NOKIA IS LESS CAPABLE COMPARED TO XDA ONES, LET ALONE GOOGLE?

It even takes guys at XDA to dish out beta versions of custom ROMs around two months. Yes! They do not have device tree and all but still to get a stable ROM is not that easy. It's not that the XDA guys are legally binded to provide stable updates but guys at Nokia are. And BTW NOKIA 8 is going to get it before the end of OCT. They said this in Taiwan launch of Nokia 8. And guess what all of 6,5,3,8 are going to be upgraded to ANdroid P. They said this in Phillipines. That's what stock android means!!

This phones are not nexus or whatever groogle fully supports. It takes some time to test hardware compatibility, drivers and wait for groogle to track down bugs that will actually always come with new software updates. 2 3 mounts is nothing;). And people should be glad they are actually testing the Os before releasing it. I see nothing wrong in that, instead i see people that know nothing, instead they like to complain about everything. Guess what. Your samesung won't receive orero. Ain't that a fact?

So what's the point of stock Android if they will not get it on time? I mean that's the only advantage of it other than the no bloatware. If it takes 2 to 3 months for a stock android device to get the latest update, then it is useless

Casted my vote to Sam... moreYour points are meaningful and I agree with you.Samsung's Touchwiz is now much better and polished but UI is confusing,android phones at a point becomes laggy too,well,It's my personal opinion.As of yours I respect that too,I don't argue with people's personal opinions but as you've mentioned Nokia has no position to compet with other big OEMs then here me out,When Nokia actually sold their mobile division to MS many unique Nokia's feature(you've mentioned earlier)patents were moved to MS.so to use those features for Current Nokia Mobile by HDM Global Oy they legally have to have those patents in order to put features on new nokia devices.Good news is HMD Global on their way to take those patents from MS.Around 195 more/less patents are already have been passed to HMD Global from MS including Lumia camera,Pureview etc.So We are hopping to get previous Nokia Features on current Nokia device soon.Maybe Future OS update will bring those feature for Nokia 8 or may come pre-build within Nokia 9(Just telling).I'm a big Nokia fan and have kind of emotions for Nokia name.I know Nokia 8 has no any deal breaker feature but it's still a flagship Phone like others and what I can see from many youtube reviews Nokia 8 did a great job comparing with op5,galaxy s8/+,Iphone 7 etc.It has all the necessary feature for daily life.About camera issue I hope Nokia by HMD Global fix it with Oreo update.Camera performance depends on software much.I'm buying this Nokia 8 in Polished Blue color really soon when it comes to my country. :D

I've used Stock Android on Android One and other smartphones. Have also used Xiaomi's MIUI and Samsung's skinned UI. I've mostly been using Samsung even before the advent of Galaxies. From Touchwiz to Grace UX to Samsung Experience UI. It's only gotten better, more polished and comes with plenty of features. Android as an OS is really very flexible and customisation isn't much of an issue on Stock Android. Today, Android has matured as an OS only because of OEMs making improvements to it with their customized skins. If you remember, Samsung had Multi-Window feature before Google brought this feature in Nougat. Many features added to Stock Android were already present in manufacturers' custom skinned ROMs. This is just one example. Xiaomi Mi A1, a recent Android One smartphone with dual cameras, loaded with stock Android but comes with Xiaomi's Camera app because well, Stock Android lacks support for Dual Rear Cameras. I don't like Stock Android because of its simplistic look, very less inbuilt customization options and lack of inbuilt features which requires the user to separately install an app. Certainly don't like installing launchers (which requires themes to be installed for further UI customizations). Launchers can't change the settings UI and other default app's UI. If I remember correctly, Stock Android still hasn't added support for native themes. This is why I prefer customized skins of a few OEMs. Currently Samsung's UI and Xiaomi's MIUI are top on my list because of robust built-in functionalities like scrolling screenshots, in-built bluelight filtering, call recording, dual apps and many other useful features which aren't present in stock Android. As for the term "bloatwares," it's a recently coined geeky sounding word which has gained popularity even amongst the noobs. Now if you call basic inbult functions such as Calculator, FM Radio, Call Recording, Voice recording, Compass, Media Players etc provided by the manufacturer as bloatwares, then I guess that doesn't make sense at all. Have you ever seen how many Google apps are installed on Android phones? There's plenty of them. Are these not bloatwares? Why can't Google trim down their application suite?
Thankfully, these days, most of the manufacturers ROM provide an option to disable or uninstall certain apps (which aren't important for the system) so "bloatwares" aren't an issue in my case. The smartphone industry has came a long way both in terms of hardware and software. Lagging is very less or no longer as prominent as it used to be, in current crop of flagship Android devices. Furthermore, if you feel that your Android is slow navigating through the UI or opening apps, you can always turn on developer mode and set the all UI Animations (Window Animation Scale, Transition Animation Scale and Animator Duration Scale) to 0.5x for smoother UI animations. This works universally on all Android phones and will definitely help to some extent to make the user interface's animations faster, thereby delivering a smoother user experience. You didn't get what I meant in my post below. I should've been more specific I guess. HMD's Nokia is in no position to challenge big players in the Android realm but that's obvious, because they are just starting afresh in a new OS used by almost every manufacturer except Apple. Nokia had amazing technologies back in those days like CBD Display, Always On Display, Nokia Rich Recording, Lossless Zooming in PureView technology which was simply the best digital zooming mechanism ever seen in a phone, Lumia Camera App, one of best Camera App at that time, Xenon flash, Mechanical Shutter, Dedicated Shutter Key and many other awesome things which are rarely seen in the Android world. Nokia 808 PureView was top on GSMArena's Sunlight Legibility Test Chart for some 5 years and was recently beaten. So what I actually meant was that, if Nokia seriously means business, they should step up their game and bring those amazing techs like PureView Camera to their upcoming Android phones. The Nokia 8 comes with OZO 360 degree Spatial Surround Sound recording which is great and I appreciate Nokia for bringing something exclusive. If only they had more exclusive tech (read PureView Camera and other techs that I mentioned), I'd be interested in their products. Currently rocking two Samsung Galaxies. I'm as much a Nokia fan as I'm a Samsung fan. Not a blind one though. Hope you got my point.
