But my worry is that even mid rang phone will also start pushing the expensive mark to the point of a new rang will be made to fit the lost mid rang while the newly over priced mid rang will be the high rang and the over priced phone will be called something new.
I fear this will happen and soon.
Just look at the car industry car size as an example. Audi. The A3 is the same size as the A4 3 generation ago.
As they get bigger than the I tending rang they end up making another rang to fit that market rang.

I wish other companies are like Huawei or One Plus. Very generous offerings with decent prices or at least, they give more for the same price point than most competitiors.

This is also my first phone for which I bought a case, actually. Didn't really need them in the past and never ever had a broken phone, but I guess I'm lucky. :-)

Ohhhh you mean by the false representation of dxo that the s8 and others actually scored higher in the individual camera tests but they added new sections for dual cameras that give dual camera phones extra category points? And even though they new this they made the claims anyway about iPhone being better?
And gs should have obviously seen this but didn't care and posted it anyway without even mentioning that?
Or in the iPhone article here written by an Apple fan that said the iPhone images were sharper but clearly spoke pin the smudge details. And then when you clicked on the photo tool linked directly to the article the s8 images were clearly sharper AbHD superior?
And I bet had the tables been turned on dxo whoever wrote the iPhone article here would have pointed out the individual scores to defend apple.
And then of course there is ever camera shoot out comparison where the s8 easily was better in most cases.

Some of that is in the name of thinness which we have buyers to thank. But even that's an excuse sometimes.
Like the battery of note8. Maybe it could not be as big as wanted but they said there was no room.... that's just terrible space management.
Companies even at 600-1k price ranges cutting corners on things like front cameras, OIS, they have bigger image sensors that could be used, lg charging 750 and used tiny low budget sensor, louder speakers, stereo speakers, zoom lenses, projectors, bigger batteries, ram, better audio amps, sd slots, cell phone reception, keyboards, durability, software support, etc etc.

Also, I am hoping there will be a good 16:9 aspect ratio variant of the Mate 10.
The whole 2:1 (18:9) trend is useless for media consumption.

If phones were max 200$, then I would also be one of those people that focus on the design. But since phones are very expensive and extremely Slippery, I prefer protection on it. And tpu are the most protective and good covers out there.

Buying a 1k phone and the year after it's already outdated. mobile phones are the fastest electronic devices to be outdated, the same as computers hardware.

Edge display looks nice. Maybe the bottom bezel isn't so nice, but not bad. Back is hideous, I really don't like those backplates that get fingerprints all over within seconds of touching it.
Cameras probably won't compete with the V30, S8, and Pixel 2, but still should be alright. Probably wouldn't be my first choice, but certainly not a bad choice if the price is competitive. Certainly beats anything Xiaomi is doing right now.
