Here comes Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy Tab E on Verizon and T-Mobile

07 October 2017
Both the 8" and 9.6" versions of the Samsung tablet are getting the OS update on Verizon, the 8" version on T-Mo, too.

I'm stuck with the Samsung SM-T561, Galaxy Tab E (9.6", 3G).
I wish the nice salesman had been honest with me about the Android 4.4.4 limitation. The tablet is useless to me.

The only option seems to have an expert root and brick it. Nice going Samsung, version obsolescence as a business model. (I'll invest in your shares but not your products.)

If the Galaxy Tab E 9.6 is not SM-T560NU or SM-T567, it will remain stopped on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

Unfortunately it is only the Galaxy Tab E 9.6 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset (SM-T560NU and SM-T567) which is being contemplated with Android Nougat.
The Galaxy Tab E 9.6 International (with Spreadstrum SC7730SE chipset) will continue forever on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

That is great. Most mid range devices only get 1 update and low end usually stays on the firmware it shipped with.
