Mod enables 60fps QHD video on the Exynos Samsung Galaxy Note8

This is so ridiculous. Such powerful components have been added to this device and still the framerate is locked.

      AnonD-566988, 13 Oct 2017it's the app that tops out at Full hd. I did what you asked... moreOpen Camera, the one by Mark Herman, with Blue and White icon does show resolutions upto 4K, which is 4096X2160. It already does in my Redmi Note 4. On Googling, you can see 4K videos by this phone.
      If it still shows you only FullHD, then I guess its a firmware based limitation. I guess, root is required then...

          Guess what Exynos 9 series is already capable of 4K 120fps.... I saw this in a page by Samsung itself:- http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/Exynos/Solution/MobileProcessor/Exynos_9_Series_8895.html

          So, I got so confused that I accedentally thought it was Galaxy S9's brand new chipset, so I submitted to Gsmarena as a news link for S9, later realised my mistake.... It is already present in S8, Note 8, etc...

          Now, the main question is, what is the S8/Note8 camera sensor capable of?

          In my Redmi Note 4, I used Open Camera to record 4K30 (without root) using Open camera, even though stock camera tops FullHD...
          Can anyone use the same Open Camera in S8/ Note 8 and confirm me the results?

            Any way to add 1080p @240 fps? Or this is a sensor limitation on Note 8?

                            I use this mod on my s8+ and it's pretty damn amazing.

                                  It would be a nice option to have in the camera features ,
                                  But how long could you run the device at 4k and 60 frames per second before it gets hot and starts throttling to protect itself ?
                                  From what I have seen the apple phone with new chip appears to throttle after a period in the speed testing ,
                                  As a matter of interest , How long can the iPhone run at 4k 60 fps ?

Samsung should deal with qualcomm because of patents (for example cdma patents). If they don’t deal they pay more. It’s the reason why exynos socs are not so powerful. Because of performance gate. Exynos version should be= qualcomm snapdragon version ( in this case exynos 8=sd 835) to avoid conflits between consumers. Remember in 2015 when samsung used only exynos chips for s6/s6 edge/note5 with exynos 7420. Exynos were faar powerful than snapdragon 810 this year.

                                        Its not the CPU that is the restriction but the camera sensor.
