One in four smartphone owners spends more than 7 hours a day on it

13 October 2017
Every other Saudi, Australian or German citizen would spend over $400 for a new phone.

AnonD-514012, 13 Oct 2017This is why bigger battery > Thinner phone any day.You could have both if we were to revert to removable battery.

Pretty much anything happening lately is to hurt battery life. Furst removal of the removable battery (infinite autonomy). This year the lowering of battery size by quiet a fraction.

All the while usage tomes on phone soar...

I think review sites are partially to blame. They call a phone an "one day phone" when it can barely do 5 hours of screen time and with battery life actually going down during the life of a phone, more like 4-4.5 hours screen on time. Those are half day phones. You need a 9 hour screen on time phone to call it a day-phone. There is only a tiny few of them and most mid rangers...

As long as people keep buying phones that need charging during the middle of the day a day phone would be a far cry ... what a pity. I used to never have to charge back in the removable days... We have made a gist step back in autonomy *as* usage rates soars... what an irony.

akw, 13 Oct 2017you can't talk about this , because the reason can be : Low... moreNot all Indians are poor. Majority are in Middle class and above. And yes what he said is absolutely right. Many Indians are tuned like that only. Many of my colleagues are rich enough to buy an iPhone X but still prefer upper mid range phones and buy/use the remaining money on something else. We dont have the luxury of carrier subsidies to enjoy whatever new phone comes out. Buy an Op5 and a DSLR/Laptop and can still save money instead of buying an X.

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2017With this data I hope we'll gonna have 4000mAH as a minimum... moreThat's pretty common for mid-range and upper mid-range phones which are more popular in developing countries, I think flagships will continue to use smaller batteries until more people who use their smartphone for extended period of time from these countries start buying them.

Damn who changes their phone every year and a half? And personally I wouldn't pay more than $400 for a smartphone they all basically perform and do the same thing anyway.

Hmm so maybe they should release phones and tech in india faster then.. And not make us pay twice the price for them after waiting for 6 months..

Perhaps the japanese, because they like petite iphone, they're not too productive when using the phone, thus, they use it less hour/day compared to other, thus, the phone is not really important, thus, they don't upgrade as often as others.
