Every other Saudi, Australian or German citizen would spend over $400 for a new phone.

If 5% of people in India willing to shed more than 400$ for their new phone, the population should match half of Saudis, Australia, Germany combined.
Then how about 53% of Chinese, it will cover the rest of the world combined (may be excluding US, but could include India 5% and Suadi/Germany/Australia's 50% too) :XD

Question is, are humans the master of their smartphones or are smartphones the master of their human users..?

Anyway, I'm still using my Sharp Aquos Crystal which is 3 years and running, despite ageing software and hardware, but it still works, so heck do I need to change...

Who cares? They won't upgrade the battery and downgrade the screen anyway. Instead they make worse batteries and more powerful screens, so the phone needs a power plug 7/11.

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2017I really hope GSMArena will update their phone usage based ... moreTheir test is based on the expected daily Usage. Phones aren't made to be on 8 hours a day even if you use it that way.

7h is relative. users like me, rather watch animes on the phone than on a computer. Or browse the web for convenience. i have a gaming laptop, even tho its portable it's battery is on par as with my smartphone since it has top fo the line hardware which consume lots of power. For gaming ofc my PC is the best around
People use their smartphone because it's more convenient.
I got the oneplus 5 so we spend more time than usual with our new device. as time goes less and less time we spend with our phone.

Indians are hardwired to save money. Both in expenditure and savings. Lot of those Indians buying a midrange handset may also be living in their own home(not an apartment) have gold and land as savings.

I really hope GSMArena will update their phone usage based on this data.

Rather than assuming user use 3 hour/day. I think it's more realistic for GSMArena to use 8 hour/day as a battery benchmark.

And 9 out of 100 smartphones don't have a headphone jack.
