Reggie, 01 Mar 2018Which is better in terms of battery life? SD636 or SD 630?I've seen plenty of queries asking for battery life. The honest remark is, it depends on plenty....... of factors. In any mobile the first and foremost thing to consume battery is the display. Then comes the software on which it runs. The better the software optimisation, better is the battery life. For example we can expect a better battery life if a mobile that runs on miui runs stock android. Then comes the apps that we use. Consumers keep their mobile open to internet always. The apps that run on the background always consume power. Finally, to be very honest there isn't a proper estimate to battery life. The same mobile which runs on 6 GB of RAM compared to the 4 GB will consume additional power because of additional hardware. Finally, the processor can be accounted only when there is a major difference, like 630 and 835. Here the major difference is the GPU which takes the accountability first. Then comes the other hardware differences that exist. For more information refer to the www.

Reggie, 01 Mar 2018Which is better in terms of battery life? SD636 or SD 630?630 will have slightly better battery because it less powerful than 636.

            Hello readers, the
Snapdragon 625 of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 can
            only support
            a display resolution upto 1920 x 1200 pixels at
60fps. But in reality Xiaomi managed the device to
            support 2160 x 1080 pixels through pixel
upscaling methods which would obviously result in
poor image quality and would consume more
battery. The upscaling algorithm would also
consume a sizeable portion of device's memory,
since it has to reside in the RAM permanently for
the display to function. Moreover, this algorithm
            would naturally slow
down the processor and GPU which would obviously
result in poor performance of the device in games
            and video playback.

this processor has as same as performance like sd 820 because 660 is like sd821 and this is downgraded version of sd 660

Rayne, 17 Oct 2017All this chipset speeds really don't mean much in real life... moreFor me its about how the phone would work. Ita ironic some people want so much processing power yet it would just be used for social media means. Y not use laptop tho. It can handle the stress and can handle even android games. Just get emulators for different needs

The 636 does not have cortex a53 for the big cores, but cortex a73. It has the same configuration as snapdragon 660, but with lower clock speeds and weaker GPU. This is clear since it has only 1.8 GHz max frequency opposite to the the 625 (which is supposedly be slower 40% by qualcomm's saying than 636) that has a higher max frequency. The only way to improve the performance this way is to use different cores than a53.

Cortex A53 isn't a LITTLE. It has dual role as big or LITTLE. The more power efficient core is Cortex A35 which is a True LITTLE core

Comparing with Snapdragon 660, SD636 has slower CPU (1.8 GHz vs 2.2 GHz) and lower GPU (Adreno 509 vs Adreno 512). It may be good upgrade path from hugely popular SD625 APU, which is used in many mid-range phones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x and recent Xiaomi Mi A1. But its predecessor SD630 and it superior SD660 both were not so popular for some reason, so I don't think that SD636 will be as popular as SD625.

Won't be surprised if SD636 use all of the little config, just like the SD625

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2017It will take about a year From the announcement like this t... moreYeah, that's true. As it is most companies are still shoving the SD625 from Feb 2016 in nearly all their phones *coughXiaomicough* ...

Oh, definitely it's a good news for the mid-rangers (segment). Although is still better if they opt for the SD660 instead than for the SD636. But if they (the brands) skip the SD660, AT LEAST now they can use the SD636 instead of the SD630 (slightly better). Moreover, also excellent news that it support QC4. Hopefully all the phones (mid-rangers, etc) that will use it, will include the QC4 as well. (Based on this, it is appropriate to mention that unlike Samsung, that they'll are still using just the QC2 even for/in the S8 duo & Note 8, shame on them. But let's hope that from the S9 onwards they will start including the QC4+ or Exynos equal to it [HOPEFULLY!!!]).

Which kryo is this? There were two types of kryo 260 in sd660, performance(a73), efficiency(a53). If it's just another 8 core a53 then there won't be much difference from 625.

Well, I was interested in the Redmi Note 5, but today searching... I found that it'll probably use this SD636 and be the first phone with that SoC, although if it's released this year the first version will come with the P25 and later in 2018Q1 they'll release the Redmi Note 5 with the SD636 (Weibo source), probably the global version too. I wanted the Snapdragon version.

Too late for me, I guess. Now looking for other alternatives, perhaps the Nubia Z17 MiniS but I wish something with bigger screen. I hope there'll be something new before Christmas with bigger screen, B20 and similar performance/price or look into something older in offer with custom Oreo roms available. : (
