You can see on benchmarks that g72mp12 lags behind and same with adreno 540, theoretically it hits 550 flops but is just little bit slower than g71mp20 on 8895. If you don't believe, run all the benchmarks You know or ps2 emulators, and g71mp20 will come on top of boths. You can compare flops on different architectures too, g71 and g72 comparing with 540 are build differently, so flops doesn't really count anymore. More cores are more important on g71 and g72 comparison. G72 has better video at architecture but 12 cores not enough to beat 20 of g71

And these benchmarks don't prove nothing, they simply aren't optimized for run in this GPU. The Kirin 970 GPU is way much faster than the Exynos 8895 GPU. Remember that the GPU of Kirin 970 if you do the counts, has 592,2 GFlops and the Exynos 8895 GPU has only 371,2 GFlops.

Are this kind of tests are accurate and also the basis in concluding wether the phone is faster or not? I dont think so . I t can be bias also.

The CPU & Antutu benchmarks are kind of disappointing. After all that hype and boasting (5.5 billion transistors and all), people were expecting more. But the benchmarks are more or less similar to the the performance of flagships with SD 835/Exynos 8895 that was made available early this year. And let's forget about even challenging Apple.
And with SD 845 & the next Exynos expected to provide a bigger jump within a few months, the Kirin 970 of the Mate 10 and the upcoming P11 series will be left in the dust.
Anyways, the good take-away is that the GPU performance is stellar, much better than some of the 2017 flagships. And this is because the Mali G72 delivered on it's promises, improving upon the excellent G71. All this makes me more excited for the next flagship Exynos.

I know most 2017 android phones have better and much faster charging speeds than iPhones (3 hrs+ from 0-100% is just unacceptable)

The reason why IPhones are "" slow"" In speed test is because of animation speed.
Do a comparison between iPhone 8 and note 8 after 2 years and see who wins then.

... moreMan i was one of them. Just for your information. Kirin 970 have 5 pins in other words in like 20 mins a phone can charge like 60% of battery from zero to 100%.
Where Apple X or Iphone 8 plus after 20 mins gets maybe 10-15% of battery.
Another difference is Mate 10 have like 1,5x bigger battery than Iphone.
And Kirin 970 consume much less battery than a kirin 960.
With its 5 pins in like 40 mins your phone get full battery while Apple 8 plus after 90 mins will still charging. Thats enough to say for stupid comments.

It's just those companies are really way behind in chipset game and there is a lot of improvement has to be done on their part

Vegetaholic, 18 Oct 2017Well expected results, I was bashing this chip because of s... moreI've tried Huawei in my life. the fact that it doesn't have the "Oomph" you're looking for doesn't mean it's a bad chipset. sure. comparing TO OTHER GPUS it's not the best. that I agree with you. but they are testing their grounds to find what is the perfect balance between excellent CPU Prowess, amazing battery life and impressive GPU. and it's not as easy as you may think.

DON'T give me the crap of jumping frogs. achieving over 10k points in multiscore is amazing. and trust me that I am a die-hard android user. I internally suspect that the SD845 will get about 9.5k but it's just me... we'll wait and see.

Well expected results, I was bashing this chip because of slow gpu, looks like I underestimated little bit and look very promising on old Manhattan test until I seen results of car chase seen and basemark x, which was lower than 8895 g71mp20, which I expected To be much faster than g72mp12. So g71mp20 it is faster after all, but just by not much. Considering Kirin 970 is half year is younger than competition I will stick to my point, that Kirin is let down chipset, and Huawei should try harder to put more power and not concentrate on some ludicrous AI computation on chip, which on SOC is as good as 8k res on 3 inch screen.
