Weekly poll: Which Huawei Mate 10 is the right one for you?

22 October 2017
While there are four models with that name, it's mainly between the vanilla and the Pro... but the distribution of features is just so odd.

I like the Mate 9 pro overall with the exception that since they moved the fp to the rear they should have provided an alternate way to unlock from the desk. A fingerprint on the power button would have been ideal as after 3 years of using rear fp i have gotten tired of raising the phone every time or manual typing the password to unlock from the work desk. EMUI does not even allow pattern style unlock when the fingerprint is turned on. Only numerical style is allowed when fp works.

Besides that for me it all comes to pricing between Mate 10 and Mate 10 pro. Is the in hand feel of 18:9 screen phone, smaller bezels, 2gb of extra ram, IP67 and Amoled screen worth the +100 Euro (actual more if buying the 128gb version as the pro lacks memory slot) ?

This really is a confusing choice, and actually no clear winner. I would've preferred they had a

Mate 10. Lack of headphones jack is unacceptable, the aspect ratio ot "pro" is a disadvantage too, and i personally don't like AMOLED either (PWM...i care about my health. So it may look great, but no thanks). And Mate 10's speakers are a bit better too.

Sony Fanboy Bitches, 22 Oct 2017Because there's no real all-in-one Mate 10 device, I'll go ... moreThen stick with your iPhone ;-)

Because there's no real all-in-one Mate 10 device, I'll go with the Note 8, V30, or XZ Premium.

If they only just made a single variant of the Mate 10 with all the goodies like QHD AMOLED display, 16:9 bezel less design, 3.5mm headphone jack, HDR10 compliance, IP67 rating, and the highest possible storage with microSD Card slot, I'll pick it up in a heartbeat.

The Mate 10 is a great device & easily better than the other Pro & Porsche Design versions (More screen area, QHD vs FHD+,16:9 ratio and front fingerprint scanner and still a better Screen to body ratio than the others, 3.5 mm headphone jack and SD card slot and still much less expensive).

The only things better in the Pro & Porsche Design are more RAM/storage, IP67 protection and the AMOLED screen.

The other goodies such as the impressive front and back camera, the 4000 mAh, the promising Kirin 970 and the Infrared Blaster remain the same for the trio. The lack of Stereo speakers is a minor niggle though.....

But despite the Android 8.0 Oreo, the UI icons are still as pre-historic and dated as ever......

Pro. Best camera out there. Big upgrade from the earlier models and the flaws will just be fixed in an update. Just wish they would release it earlier.
