Apple should re-imagine the iPod Shuffle

I think there's a market nowadays for a revamped iPod Classic, with a touch screen scroller wheel, Bluetooth and WiFi support, as well as having a 512GB storage capacity. All of this with a retro iPod look, I'd buy 8

Interesting as your article is, I can't see Apple doing that anytime soon, if ever again. I only own a first gen shuffle 512mb as it could also be used as simple flash drive at the time. I was an ipod person. I started with the 30GB iPod Photo, then the iPod Video. Later I moved to the iPod touch 2g onwards. At one point I even bought the iPhone 4S when Nokia 's death was looming. But sadly the iPhone was never for. I new this so why I ask myself. I have an iPad but that's different. The iPhone was a smartphone for none smartpeople. I say this now but no to offend but to state that due to it's limitations. It's designed for those who are not tech minded but need to been intouch wth the latest mobile tech. Not me I went Android. Apple shot it's self in the foot when it launched the iPhone by adding a music player onboard,. I think they knew this though, as there was no need to buy or carry arround a nother device. Ok so I do miss the iPod as it as become an iconic symbol of what was the next gen in portable music. My ladt iPod was the iPod touch 5th gen. It was plagued with issues especially battery from the start and by now people were storing their music on their mobiles. And with Apple announcing the end for portable music players I too went that way.

Kinda ... moreWell actually i still own all my Walkmans in nearly new and perfects conditions they are awesomly well built, i do not own my Ipods any more not cause I destroy them, no, well I only own my shuffle one but i almost never use it 'cause the Walkmans works quite better, the other one, 1 was taken by my ex-girlfriend and I never saw it again, sad 'cuase she lost almost all the things she got, and the others i lost them by cause of theft jajaja in pretty funny situations

Its just that people demand apple music.. to stream apple music you will need wifi / LTE.. now both of that is major battery draining components. To provide wifi only means maybe your in a gym workout.. what about runners who need larger range?
Wires is a safety hazard in some cases.. tangled with equipments.. when you swing ur hands etc comes into mind. Thats why most of these are fully secured on the head / clip on neck.
So apple use apple watch plus airpod to remove all these concerns.

I'm down... I have the same issue with running/riding music. I hate running with my phone and I was DESPERATELY hoping that the Pebble Core would see the light of day, but to no avail... I'm not an iPhone person, but the iPod Shuffle is a GREAT music playing platform that I would also love to see be upgraded and carried on! Good article, thanks!

The thing about the iPod is that, after the launch of the iPhone, it went from headliner to playing second or even third fiddle in Apple's lineup, behind their iOS devices & Mac Computers. The reason why the iPod Touch still exist is likely because it can inherit much of its internal components from the iPhone parts bin while also evermore tying users into Apple's ecosystem and online services. And while your idea of repurposing the body of the Apple Watch as a 5th gen Shuffle could potentially have merit, it would likely have to be adapted to such an extent for playback controls, ports and the clip that any cost savings would likely be largely negated. IMO, your best option may be found outside of Cupertino's walled garden with a low cost unlocked Android phone, such as the Moto E4 or the Prime exclusive Alcatel A series, as Apple Music is one of the few apps Apple has released on Android. While an Android phone is not a perfect replacement for a Shuffle, neither are an iPod Touch or an iPhone SE or 5S which are both potentially much more expensive. However, With a cheap Android, it's not so bad if it gets damaged or broken. Plus, you always have the option of throwing in a SIM if you want to stream away from WiFi

Sony has many headsets like this one until today,try the sbh54,it has a player,FM radio,and Bluetooth connection to your phone.
